Name: Martin Pimentel
Hometown: Sydney, Australia but currently living in London, England
Started riding BMX in: 1978 but I’ve been riding one kind of bike or another since the age of 2 (yes I have photographic evidence)
Number of bikes in the collection: 113 at its peak but that’s down to 55 right now. Most of what is left has not been shared widely yet so I have lots of building left to do. 1980 to 1984 was my golden age.
Do you remember the moment that you decided to start collecting BMX memorabilia?
Martin Pimentel: Like most things in life, it was at a party. It was the early 2000s and an old '80s song came on. To this day I associate particular songs to certain bikes. Made me think of a black 1983 SE Quadangle with gold parts and camo pads I always wanted but never had. That sparked the flame that burns to this day.
Who were the first people you came across that helped you out to find the stuff you needed?
Martin Pimentel: There were too many to mention here. I started going deep and before too long the stuff tended to find me! That’s the good thing about this community. People get to know each other, their
On February 21st, the town of Sakai (Ibaraki prefecture) inaugurated a custom-built park designed by Hurricane Parks, a brand of Hurricane Group (organizers of FISE) and used during the Olympic Games in Japan. This area will be available to amateur riders from April 1st and to professional athletes for training sessions ahead of international competitions.
It was at the 2024 UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup, held in Enoshima from 22 to 25 February, that the world's best riders took the opportunity to celebrate the inauguration of this new Park in Sakai. Among them was reigning Olympic champion Logan Martin, who had the occasion to rediscover his 2020 sensations on the Park that made him the first ever BMX Freestyle Olympic gold medalist.
Shaun Allison is a name that was on my original list of guests back when I first started thinking about doing this podcast, and I’m sure many people out there won’t have even heard of?
Welcoming Jayden Fong to the Local BMX team! Jayden got down for the camera in Perth, Australia to celebrate, along with his teammates Filipe Laghi, Mitchell Morris, Zenith Riley, and Kyle Ralston. These dudes know what's up.
Dean Florian's recent video part had some awesome feedback but don't be fooled, a lot of the clips Dean really had to put in some serious work to get them done. We love putting out these raw cut videos because they really show how much dedication it takes to put together a video part.

Name: Peter Ashby
Hometown: Hurstbridge, Victoria, Australia
Started riding BMX in: 1979
Number of bikes in the collection: 15 at the moment
Do you remember the moment that you decided to start collecting BMX memorabilia?
Peter Ashby: It was around 20 years ago. I saw an old 1980 Mongoose on a rubbish pile so I took it home because of the great memories I had as a kid with BMX's and hung it in my garage.
Has Torker always been THE brand for you?
February 2024 and the first UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup is happening this upcoming weekend in Enoshima, Japan. It will be a long trek to the land of the rising sun for the first round of 2024 with two other stops on the calendar for this year being Montpellier, France in May and Shanghai, China in October. With this being an Olympic year there are two more key events on the schedule before the Games take place in Paris this summer. The Olympic Qualifier Series will determine 6 of the 12 riders in each gender who will get a ticket to the Place de La Concorde in July. Add the UCI World Championships to the list (Abu Dhabi - December) and it's going to be a full season being a high level Park rider.
The three UCI World Cups this year will have Flatland as well. It was time they had a full World Cup
