The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series heads to Santiago del Estero, Argentina this weekend September 6-7, for the fourth and penultimate round, as competitors vie for both the series title, and Olympic qualification points. Caroline Buchanan the 2012 series champion has won two of the three World Cup events so far this year, with victories in Manchester and Berlin placing her atop the series standings.
Victory in Argentina could see
Buchanan the Canberra local, build an unassailable lead ahead of the final round in Chula Vista, USA at the end of September. Whilst she admitted feeling confident off the back of her recent success, she was slightly cautious given the nature of the sport.
“I am feeling quite confident going into this event off the back of winning the last World Cup in Berlin, and getting a sliver medal in the World Championships Time Trial,” she said
“However BMX is always unpredictable.”
