The UCI Urban Cycling World Championships in Abu Dhabi delivered days filled with BMX Freestyle action, starting with extended practice sessions and elimination rounds in BMX Park and Flatland. By the final day, despite a slightly shorter schedule, the intensity remained high. With the Women’s Flatland Finals kicking off at 9:00 AM and the Men’s Park podium ceremony scheduled for 8:30 PM, it was another packed day of competition. Watching the world’s top athletes compete in the Flatland and Park finals made every moment worth it.
The morning began with a challenge: overnight dew had transformed the flatland platform into a slick surface, requiring extensive squeegee work to prepare the course in time for the Women’s Flatland Final. The event became a fierce contest between nations, with Hungary and Japan each fielding two riders in the finals. While the Japanese riders entered as top qualifiers, Hungary’s competitors weren’t backing down. A surprising off-day for top qualifier Kirara Nakagawa (JPN) saw her finish in fourth, paving the way for Hungary’s Anna Mondics and Veronika Kadar to secure podium finishes. Veronika delivered an impressive run to take second place, but Japan’s Ayuna Miyashima claimed the top spot, becoming the 2024 UCI BMX Flatland World Champion.
In the Men’s Flatland Final, the stakes were high as eight riders vied for the title. The talent on display electrified the crowd, with flawless execution being the key to victory. Matthias Dandois (FRA), in what he announced as his final world stage competition, put down a near-perfect run to score 90.67,
Kairi Yamada joined the Fit Familia in 2020 after earning the ultimate VOUCH from Van "Mother F'n" Homan. Van, who had spend the two years leading up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games living in Japan and regularly riding the Bashi Burger ramps, was impressed with the then 9-year-old and wanted to hook him up. Well, four years later... it looks like the Homanator knew what he was doing.
Within a sequence of unfortunate events, we're feeling really fortunate to be able to present this to you. The trip was conceived in the beginning of 2024, but was cancelled twice due to Dan Conway getting hurt.
It’s been a busy week, traveling back to France after over 3 years in the USA.
By Julio Verastegui :, I started recording 3 months ago when I asked for a Sony HDR camera from Japan on eBay, we started recording without a fish eye, I didn't have it yet, the friend who helped me record also had no idea how to handle the camera so it was all a process because over the course of those 3 months we learned how to use the camera since everything came in Japanese and we decided to record both on the streets of my city (which is not that big since I don't live in the capital of my country) so finding spots on the street is a bit more complicated that's why I decided to put together the little I recorded on the street with the ones from my local park, now that we're done with this video we're motivated to record in 2025 purely on the street, we're looking at how to travel to the capital of my country on some dates and make the most of the spots that can be found there, I did the editing myself, trying to make sure that everything fits in the shots with the rhythm of the music, I have a Not such a good computer but at least it allowed me to edit everything in the 6 minutes that my friend and I were able to put together.
Dillon Lloyd might be one of the most talented people I have ever had the pleasure of filming. These clips were filmed back in 2018 for Wethepeople. There's a few clips I found that didn't get used for one reason or another that I threw in there as well.
