Last weekend was a real banger, as some of the world's most impressive street BMX riders and skateboarders along with up-and-coming local talents gathered in the sunny and burning hot Riga, capital of Latvia, for the Simple Summer Session 18 contest. For the first time ever, the summertime event by the Simple Session series took place in Riga's brand new Barona skatepark, providing the event with the very first full concrete contest course in the history of Simple Session. The all-street event was dedicated to the 100th birthday of Estonia.
A total of 39 BMX riders and 31 skaters from 19 countries competed in the Saturday's qualifications, with 12 top qualifiers from both disciplines following through to the Finals on Sunday.
The Chase Edge has been one of the most sought after completes in BMX racing for the past few years. We don’t settle for good enough at Chase, so we decided to make our top selling bike even better. For 2019, we started out with the heart of the Edge, the frame, where we upgraded it with a new Triple butted Premium Ultralight Alloy Hydroformed tubed frame on the entire size range. We also changed the head tube, adding to the list of upgrades on the Frame.
The Edge has some of the best parts on a complete BMX race bike, including a new Chase rear cassette hub, a Tioga Tires, Tektro brake set, Insight chainring, grips, chain tensioners, KMC Chain, and a Pivotal seat / seat post, all help round out the Edge to make it one of the most dialed in complete bikes in BMX. The Chase Edge is offered in 8 different sizes, giving you the perfect size bike for just about any BMX racers needs.
The Vans Pro Cup returned to HB once again for loads of beach-side roasting on some quality concrete, and it was a belter. Mr. Enarson took home the big silver cup after absolutely annihilating the bowl, and was sporting some nice threads to boot- thanks Dennis! In our usual "In The Cut" style, here's a little glimpse into some of the antics and riding that went down during the weekend.
Our DIG Locals series continues, uncovering more underground talent you may not have heard of or seen yet. This time around it's Lyon, France's François Torrecilla and his individual style and some interesting spots thrown in. Originally started in 2016, this video took a slight hiatus due to general life stuff, but François is now back ripping and managed to finish this one off.
The Vans BMX Pro Cup took flight in Huntington Beach, CA yesterday as 35 of the world’s best men and women park terrain BMX riders competed for the final rounds of 2018 Pro Tour stop #2. Capping off the week-long celebration of action sports at the Vans US Open, the Vans BMX Pro Cup Series crowned winners Dennis Enarson and Nikita Duccaroz in front of massive crowds earlier this afternoon. Annihilating the custom-spec Vans Pro Park, defending Vans Pro Cup Huntington Beach event winner Dennis Enarson triumphed once again, going back-to-back with his signature transfers and a gravity-defying backflip tailwhip to stun the Surf City crowd.
“Winning the Vans BMX Pro Cup here in Huntington Beach so close to home feels amazing,” said first
