BS Series is 26.5 years old and they have fathered on average .10 children each. Comparing this to the US national average, we may have some serious sterility problems going on here. This info was sent to us by Dennis McCoy. Believe it, or not!?
- X-games news: Matt Hoffman entered vert and finished 7th in the final.
Good to have you back, Matt! Bestwick got 6th, Parker 5th, an injured McCoy
grabbed 4th and the medals went to Simon Tabron (pulled a 900) for 3rd, Jay
Miron for 2nd (including a ripping 2nd run with a 540-tailwhip) and one more
gold to Dave Mirra who rode consistant enough for the victory.
Street was won by Dave "show me da money" Mirra, followed by Schwinn's Jay
Miron and Chad Kagy. 4th place went to good old Dave "lord" Voelker. Spain's
Ruben Alcantara made the main and scored a 7th in front of Nolli.
Flatland saw the same winner as in '97 and '98. Trevor Meyer unveiled some
of his secret tricks and by now you should know how consistant he is. GT
Europe's Phil Dolan must have stayed off the beers the previous night since
he scored a 2nd place in the San Francisco heat. Canada's Nathan Ponanzek
got a bronze medal and Michael Steingraber from Germany finished 4th.
- Here are the German champions for 1999:
Street: Timo Pritzel (GT)
Flat: Matti Röse (GT)
Dirt: A. Kittel (360)

- The European Road Fools tour that was planned for August '99 has been
postponed to spring 2000. The Props crew figured out that if they filmed
this summer they wouldn't be able to bring out the video before March 2000
which doesn't make sense.

participating in the Tour de France.
Esselbach, Germany: June 26-27
GT¹s Robert de Wilde collects European BMX title Elite Men 1999
Round 7 and 8 of the 1999 European BMX Championship Series took place on the Esselbach BMX track last weekend. The track had been rebuilt for this occasion and had a fast first straight away with some nice jumps.
On Saturday both GT/Panasonic ShockWave Elite Men riders made it to the main event. Going into the first turn, getting ready for a smooth pass on the inside, Robert de Wilde (NL) hit someone's back wheel and crashed. Teammate Florent Boutte (F) was able to avoid the crash and went on to a 4th place finish. However, the race was won by Ivo Lakucs, riding a GT.
Ellen Bollansee rode her GT to the main on Saturday in the Elite Women category. After a good start the Belgian came out of the first turn in third place which she was able to hold on to. Natarsha Williams (AUS) walked away with the win. In Junior Men GT's Kelvin Batey (GB) was looking strong all day long. After a very good start in the main event he was in third position going into the last turn where he collided with an other rider and crashed finishing up in 7th.
After a less fortunate day, Sunday morning came around for some new opportunities. As on Saturday all GT/Panasonic ShockWave team riders were looking very strong. Kelvin Batey made it to the main event and after another good start he crashed together with Michal Prokop (CZE) who made a mistake on the second jump and Kelvin was only able to pick up a 7th in the final. Despite his crashes Kelvin gained one position in the overall standings and is now in 3rd place. Ellen Bollansee had a tough day. After a crash in the qualifying round she still managed to make it to the main event but was not able to finish better than 6th place. Natarsha won again in front of Karine Chambonneau (GT France) and Tatjana Schocher (GT Switzerland). In the overall standings Ellen holds on to her 2nd place in Elite Women.
Despite his crash on Saturday GT's Robert de Wilde could still grab the European title on Sunday. With 8 out of 10 rounds counting, Robert was in a strong position to collect the title in this early stage of the European series. On Sunday the Elite Men main event belonged to the Dutch pro BMX-er. He lead the race from start to finish. Florent Boutte ended up in second place behind his teammate. With this win Robert "The Wildman" de Wilde extended his lead in the overall standings and cannot be beat for the European UCI title. So after 8 out of 10 rounds De Wilde collects his first European title in the Elite Men class. With a strong 2nd place finish Boutte put himself in a good position to take home 2nd place overall with only two more rounds to go.
Next race will be the final rounds 9 & 10 of the 1999 European BMX Championships Series in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands on July 10-11.

VEGAS, 19/20 June 1999
NBL Race and KOD
At the same weekend an NBL race was taking place in Vegas on an indoor type-track which was pretty cool according to Dale Holmes. The European AA pros controlled the AA class on Saturday with DK's Neal Wood grabbing the win in front of party-mate Dale Holmes (GT/UK) in second and Frenchies Thomas Allier (GT) and Christophe Leveque (Specialized) in 3rd and 4th.
Powerlite's Danny Nelson won Pro Open on Saturday and is currently leading in the NBL. Dale Holmes scored a 3rd on his new prototype UltraBox GT bike.
Dale crashed in pro cruiser and bruised his knee but he's still leading this class and is currently in 3rd place in AA pro. On Sunday go-kart crazy man Thomas Allier doubled in Vegas.
The King Of Dirt in Vegas was won by Huffy's Cory Nastazio, who can jump a lot better than answer McGoo's quiz questions on a recent Props roadfools tour. Second place went to nor-Cal's Joey Garcia.
LOUISIANA, USA - 12/13 June 1999
NBL Race
If you think it only rains in Europe, you are wrong. The race on Saturday was cancelled at the end which means that one final round was taking place at 08:00h (8am) on Sunday morning. Danny Nelson was a fast early bird and won the AA class. Greg Romero got second and Stumphauser scored a 3rd.
Half an hour later Christophe Leveque won the Pro open class with Thunder Nelson in second and Thomas Allier in 3rd aboard an Ultrabox. Dale Holmes, who will be attending the British Championships, scored a 5th in Pro Open.
The SUNN story is about over. The French bicycle company's riders are looking for a new ride. This includes Mehdi Remeli and Dylan Clayton.
An ecologist was the reason for the killing of some SUPER rad trails in Lanaye, Belgium. Reason: "It disturbes the butterfly's". We were fortunate enough to have a session before close-down.
Albert Moonen has bought a new MX to go even faster and fly even higher.
Rene Hofman is now on Albert's '97 YZ and Gerrit Koornwinder has been looking for a new ride as well. Is MX really the next thing for (ex-)BMX-ers? A quick peek in some USA garages tells you so.
Chris Moeller, the Foster Bro's, Hippie Shaun, Darrin Mitchel, McGoo, Brad McDonald, Scott Toth, Big E, Kim Boyle, Brian Lopes all go out for a ride on a regular basis.
Edgar Terronteros won the MX big Air festival in Paris with some rad jumps. Mad Mike Jones scored a second and showed he is a mad married man by picking up a PomPom girl on the podium and kissing her boobs in front of TV. Rick Thorne and Dennis McCoy came over from the States and did some shows with a bunch of good skaters on the halfpipe during the event in Bercy.
GT Europe's Robert de Wilde won the Elite race counting for the Dutch Championships held in Baarn, on Sunday June 20th. He has yet to lose a race in Europe. GT Europe's Ellen Bollansee won the Elite woman's class and GT's TM Jorg de Louw scored a 2nd in cruiser.
