For the third year in a row the Westside BMX club will play host to one of the biggest events on the domestic BMX calendar, as it gets set to host rounds five and six of the BMX Australia National Series over two days on February 28 and March 1. The series has offered up some thrilling racing so far, most recently in Shepparton for rounds three and four, where Bodi Turner claimed a pair of victories in the elite men’s category, while Melinda McLeod stopped Caroline Buchanan’s run of three straight victories when she secured round four in the elite women.
Confirmed starters for the upcoming rounds include 2014 National Series elite champions Turner and world number one Buchanan, American star Barry Nobles and Bunbury’s 2012 Olympian and 2013 World Championships runner up Lauren Reynolds.
Western Australian Reynolds is currently ranked second overall in the series behind Buchanan, and will be hoping to grab her first win of the campaign to help close the gap.
