These are the 2012 National BMX Hall of Fame nominees for each category. As you can see below -- as announced at last years' Induction ceremony, they've added the fifth category: for Women. All of these women are brand new, first time inductees. Two of each category's nominees were the runner-up and 2nd runner-up from the previous year. The other 3 nominees have been added from the open nomination from the public.
Bob Haro, known as the “Father of Freestyle”, is paying tribute to the sport he pioneered with his new IKONIX limited edition 30th Anniversary BMX Freestyle bike. Drawing on a legacy of design and performance, these bikes will be the ultimate tribute to thirty years of BMX freestyle innovation and style with only 540 premium-crafted bikes being produced for release in summer 2012.
“2012 marks three decades since I created the first bike for freestyle riding. I’m still a BMXer at heart, so I am proud and amazed by where other riders have taken it over the years,” said Bob Haro.
Straight from the doormat under the scanner. Issue 7 of 2024BMX arrived today. It's one of the few, BMX race only magazines out there so if you're into racing and don't care too much about a stylish lay-out and hi-quality pics, you should pick one up. For 5 Euros it's yours. It's just harder to make everything look good when it's not sunny out every day. This being the winter issue, or at least winter being the period that things were collected, makes it tough. Especially in the UK. Add to that a limited budget to hire all pro photographers and you can see the reason why. But the mag is made with love and it's all about racing, printed on quality paper with a glossy cover. It's got a poster (David Herman) and plenty of race reports (o.a. Manchester Open, Velofollies, Caen, Oldsmar Nationals). Dale Holmes and Marcus Bloomfield have got their columns, Jelle van Gorkom gets an interview as does Benji Armitage showing that you don't need to be an elite rider to get some coverage in 2024. Rider rep Roger Rinderknecht and John Ssawyer also get some attention in the March/April issue.
Slightly bigger than 'zine size it what Figure turns out to be. Smaller than the regular glossy mags so it will fit easier in your packpack on your next trip. The French BMX magazine is new on the market. This is the premier issue and the plan is to bring out a new one every 3 months. The downfall is that it's in French. It won't hurt whoever speaks French, but it's less interesting for everyone else. The content is in colour and it's got Albion type paper. Icons are made which will come back in future issues. Some of the content of issue one looks like this:
-Cocher: Corey Martinez interview
-Styler: Anthony Perrin
-Dater: FBM Ghetto jam
-Decaler: Clement Granier
-Participer: Vans Rebeljam
