The final round of the 2014 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup got underway at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. on Friday with the Time Trial Superfinals. Taking full advantage of the fact that they were racing on home soil, Team USA made quite a showing as
Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./ Chase/Monster),
Jared Garcia (Victorville, Calif./Supercross BMX), and
Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Haro Bicycles) swept the men's podium and
Felicia Stancil (Lake Villa, Ill./GT Bicycles) timed trialed her way to the silver medal in the women's event.
"The key to time trials is just running a smooth lap and minimizing mistakes," Fields said after his win.
"On a big gnarly track like this one, it's just about who can handle it. And it's about mental preparation."Fields clocked a time of 38.142 to take the top step of the podium ahead of compatriots Jared Garcia and Corben Sharrah who posted times of 38.266 and 38.386, respectively.
