Rival Racing BMX is extremely honored and excited to announce the sponsorship signing of "The Machine" Maris Strombergs to their 2018 Factory Team effective immediately. Strombergs, the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist, needs no introduction to those with even the most basic of BMX race knowledge or history of the sport. We thought about listing all of Maris' achievements in this press release but feared the internet doesn't have enough bandwidth capabilities for that length of accomplishments. So here's the abbreviated time line: at 2 yrs old he was the fastest kid on a tri-cycle in his neighborhood back in his home country of Latvia. At 9 he won his first BMX World Championship. Fast forward through his teen years where he won a bunch of other races and titles right up to the start of his professional career where he has become arguably the "GOAT" of BMX Racing. He's the only Pro Racer in history that has been an Olympic Gold Medalist (he did that twice just cause he could), UCI Elite Men World Champion, European Series Elite Champion, NBL Pro Champion, and ABA/USA BMX Pro Champion. Several of these prestigious titles, he has won multiple times. Basically, if there is a professional championship title that can be won in BMX and Maris has

I don't mean this in any sort of bad way, but someone just called these events as a "double best trick event" and there's really no better way to describe it. It's not a trail event. It's not about style per-say. It's about laying down your two best tricks and rolling away clean and alive (no, the quarter doesn't count). The second stop of the Toyota Triple Challenge (triple because there's three events) was the absolute highest level of riding I've seen at basically any event and I'm sure there's more to come with the final stop going down in Arlington, Texas on 2/17...
BEST RUN OF MY LIFE! by Austin Augie
Here is a good look at the Simple Session 2018 course. Billy Perry and myself were fortunate enough to have some time on the course to ourselves. Trying to film during practice was almost impossible and deadly with all of the riders going non stop. Huge shout out to Risto and all of the staff for being awesome. New video drops tomorrow at 3pm EST as I travel back to the states. Make sure to checkout the video Billy will be posting as well!
Simple session practice day 1 & 2 was insane! Sorry for the lack of uploads, we've been going non stop out here since Simple Session started. I haven't had the time to sit down and edit so I'm a bit set back. Enjoy this video and get a good look at what to expect in finals. Also we visited the "Spot of Tallinn skatepark" which was dope!
Check out a regular day in and around DDASC + get a closer look into just how much work it takes to pull something this difficult! This trick took hundreds of attempts and it wasn't his first day trying it! INSANITY!
