Over 100 Pro riders entered the Simple Session event in 2013. Where most pro contests are “invite only”, the Simple Session in Tallinn, Estonia attracts riders from all over the planet willing to ride at the event. If they had more time, the contest could be even bigger as they have to stop adding riders at some point in the weeks leading up to the event.
120 riders were on the riders list on Saturday for the qualification round. That was without a few riders who were injured and couldn’t make it to the Saku Suurhal,
Drew Bezanson and
Ryan Nyquist included. Then a big number of riders never received their bikes from the airlines and either had to borrow a friend’s bike, or sit out the competition. Just imagine how horrible it would be to travel to the other side of the world to see everyone rip up the course, and you can’t ride because your bike, clothes and protection gear never showed up.
In the end 104 riders actually rode which is more than at the X-Games, Dew Tour and other invite only comps combined.
