We asked some BMX companies what new products they are going to show at the upcoming Interbike Trade Show in Las Vegas. We will post their answers as they come in. First reply was fron Eastern Bikes'  Jon Byers.

-Have you decided to be part of the BMX zone this year and why? Yes, because it is where our dealers expect to see us AND each year it is getting a little better and more conducive for business.

-What new products are you bringing to Las Vegas that people need to check out? Where do I begin?

When it rains you have to go search for a dry place to ride. One of those places is the Sportgarten in Bremen, Germany. Although it is closed in the cold wintermonths (it is covered but still semi outdoors) the roof protects most of the ramps when it gets wet and nasty. The ramps take some getting used to but that is the same at almost every new spot you go to. For sure it is a good place for a session as the ramps that are available should offer something for everyone. It even has a vert ramp, something you do not see around all too often.

This Area 51 spot is a 15 minute drive from where I live. I had never been there until today. The reason is that they don't allow bikes there and I just can't understand that way of thinking. I hate to support anything like it. The Urban Sports week was held next door so I had to peek in. It was hard to explain Philip that he was not

BMX Freestyle. Sport or Lifestyle? For sure it is a good fit for the Urban Sports Week that kicked off in Eindhoven, NL today. Pim and Klaas van den Bos had put a nice set-up together and riders like Nicky van der Veen, Sven Schuilenberg, Joeri Faasen, Pim, Leroy and Ruud sessioned all day. Other sports present were breakdancing, street soccer, urban golfing and a bit of art such as a BMX photo exposition. Check the website for the program for the rest of the week.

Daniel Dhers, Mike Spinner and Rob Darden (current top three in the standings and automatically qualified for the finals) get company from the following 9 riders at the finals of the Dew Tour Park competition in Salt Lake City on Sunday. Tyler Chamberlain won the BMX park event Friday at the Free Flow Tour finals. The competition was held at the AST Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge. The 21-year-old Chamberlain of Herrick, Ill. achieved the win with his first run score of 88.00, landing a 540 and multiple barspin variations. Kyle Noble, of Indian Harbour Springs, Fla., followed with an 86.00 and Kevin Colla, of South Windsor, Conn., placed third with an 82.67.

“It feels really good to win the Free Flow Tour title,” Chamberlain said. “There are some things that I need to work on between now and Orlando, but I’m excited. To get an opportunity like this is unbelievable. I can’t wait to compete on the Dew Tour.”

With the win, Chamberlain earns a wildcard entry into the AST Dew Tour’s PlayStation® Pro, October 16-19.
