The waiting is almost over. It's 3 weeks until the annual Simpel Session contest in Tallinn, Estonia. If some of you still don't know where the heck it is then well, you should maybe just learn your geography. Simpel Session has grown to one of the most important winter meeting points of pro riders, bmx media peepz, team managers, distro owners, brand marketing lads and of course spectators.

The latest poll has closed. After more than 1700 votes it is clear that you riders will do a litle bit of everything when it rains outside. First you sleep in, then you check your myspace and FATBMX before you head to the bike shop to tune in your bike. After that it's off to the skatepark with your video camera because when you return home it's time to edit that video clip.

When the world as you know it is suddenly reversed, you’ve entered a place called the Flipside. The 12th feature film from RideBMX, this latest installment documents the encounters of four virtually unknown but immensely talented street riders on their quest from NYC to Greenville, North Carolina, to hang with some of the best pros in the sport. Las Vegas, Nevada – Dec. 20, 2006 – Schwinn's Dirt Jump legend, TJ Lavin, has been nice, not naughty this year, giving generously to Las Vegas Toys for Tots. In fact, it’s become tradition with TJ, as every year he fills the bed of his full-size truck with toys for the kids supported by his local Toys for Tots. TJ went even further this for the cause, lending his celebrity to a Vegas radio promotion. A friend of TJ's is a DJ Vegas radio station, so TJ went on the air and, thanks to some very caring people, helped to raise around 2,000 donated BMX bikes for the kids. 

A few months ago Marcus "Kalle" Arnoldi gave me a copy of his "Aber Nice" cd. He mentioned that people say that it's got potential. I listened to the tunes and it was weird hearing Kalle sing but it indeed sounded pretty cool. A few months after that I received an e-mail from Mr. Fastinetto saying that Kalle had won a pre-round of the German Eurovision song festival and is now in the finals.

Once again, 2 time Flatground winner Martti Kuoppa (28) was on top of his game during the sixth edition of the international flatland BMX event Flatground in the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam. In a nerve wrecking final, the Finnish rider managed to outclass Frenchman Alex Jumelin. This weekend, more than 1000 spectators visitors witnessed Kuoppa take home the victory. The qualifying rounds on Saturday decided which twelve flatland BMX riders placed for the finals on Sunday.

Dec. 18, 2006 Vancouver, BC. MacNeil Bikes is proud to announce that we are now sponsoring Travis Collier. Travis has always been a good friend to everyone here and we love having him around. So it’s great that he’s going to actually be representing for us while he rides. Travis will also begin working part time with us here at the office doing graphic design.

To finish up another flatland year, Michiel and his friends from Soulcycle organized another edition of the famous Flatground International Flatland Contests in Amsterdam, Holland. They chose a new location in the docks of Amsterdam, away from the city centre. Same wooden Flatground floor though, the one all the riders love.

Rider turnout was a bit disappointing though, about 20 expert riders and only 12 master class riders is not much. Good turnout in pro, with mostly Euro riders and some Japanese and Americans but not even in the same ballpark as last year's edition. The venue was smaller than last year too, but good enough for the amount of riders and spectators.

It's the time of the year again when people are sending Christmas cards to eachother. We've already received a bunch over the mail but the digital ones are coming in too. Do you have a cool one?
