On the initiative of "local" BMXer Jonathan Jansen and sport and recreation Rotterdam, Yi Control organizes a Freestyle BMX contest on Westblaak. “Best of Blaak” takes place on Sunday July 16 and starts at 13.00 hour on the skate course Westblaak in Rottterdam. The event has competitions in the categories: street, mini and highest air (expert and pro). Entry for both the participants and public is free.
The Dew Action Sports Tour, the only season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports, today announced the winner of the PlayStation(r) Trick of the Week Award from the Panasonic Open. Voting began after competitions ended on Sunday, June 25. Fans were able to view video clips and vote online at dewactionsportstour.com until Sunday, July 2. Fans selected Ryan Nyquist as the PlayStation(r) Trick of the Week winner after he performed a barspin no-footed can-can during the BMX Dirt Finals. Nyquist finished the contest in fourth place and is one of the top competitors in the Dew Tour BMX Dirt competition.

Kampi BMX welcomes everyone to Finland in the end of july tofor the King of Finland BMX event! We are about to experience the largest Finnish BMX jam and competition again this summer in Helsinki, Savela skatepark. The event takes place on saturday, 29th of July with park competition in two different classes: juniors and masters. Also best trick will be voted amongst riders so you can expect some crazy things to happen. After the event we will gather nearby to watch Finnish BMX movies, current editions as well as golden captures from 90's.
USA Cycling announced the Podium Program, a three-tiered financial support initiative that assists Olympic hopefuls. Created by USA Cycling and funded by the United States Olympic Committee, the Podium Program awards cash stipends and support to elite athletes based on results and performance. In May, athletes who qualified for the program in the Olympic disciplines of road, mountain and track were announced. Today, four eligible athletes in the newest Olympic discipline – BMX – were announced, bringing the total number of athletes in the Podium Program to 35.
July 10, 2006 LOS ANGELES - ESPN's X Games announces the second wave of athletes who have been invited to compete at X Games 12, to be held in Los Angeles August 3-6, 2006. All athletes receiving invitations to compete at X Games 12 are chosen by a sport-specific selection committee. Criteria and timing of invitations varies by sport and discipline, as it is based on the state and event schedules of that particular sport. The only exception is each gold medalist from X Games 11 (2005) receives an automatic invitation to compete. The third wave of invitations is scheduled to be announced in late July. The list of athletes is subject to change.
On the ISPO summer '06 from July, 16th to 18th in Munich, Germany, a little BMX session will be happening. A setup consisting of a big Quarter, a Quarter-to-wall, a curbcut, a nice jumpbox and a grindbox will be installed in Hall A3. On Sunday, the 16th there will be a Jam session taking place and on Monday there will be a little contest where 500 € of price money can be won.
