Airing Sunday, January 21 at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (6:00 pm Pacific Time), and re-airing another seven times during the week, legendary BMX pro Dave Mirra stars in FUEL TV’s original 30-minute series “Firsthand.” In this episode of “Firsthand,” FUEL TV joins Dave Mirra at his home in North Carolina, where we check out his newly built training warehouse. Then we fly to New York, where he joins Shaun White for some press appearances on NBC’s Today Show.
We got some news to start the year with: We are glad to announce the new KHEculture brand. It´s a separate clothing company but with close contact to KHEbikes.
We've tried to do a scene report on the etnies park in Lake Forset twice but were denied access. This not only pissed us off but left us puzzled on their policy of having photographers shoot their park to promote its presence. We received the new 2007 photographer policy by e-mail and were curious if they had figured it out by now.
The FIse used to be the season opener when we didn't have 5 events going on at the same weekend. Then it moved to the summer time which had great weather but it was actually too hot during the day to ride. The organization has changed not only the date (16-20 May), but also the venue. It will now be closer to Montpellier city and not on a grass field near the Zenith. If you want to participate you can already enter. Amateur day is from 16-18 May and the pro contests are on the weekend (19-20 May). Down here you have further info on the event:
The Reindeer Games are on the program for this Saturday 20 January 2007. The Open Ground park will welcome all BMX-ers. Beginners class starts at noon, followed by the Intermediate class (2pm.) and advanced BMX riders (4 pm. ). The Best Trick on the Big Box contest starts at 6pm. For more info you can visit the openground.com website. It looks like FATBMX will be present to do a report so if you've always wanted to get a photo on the FATBMX site, find Lloyd Ramsay, get rad and check back in early next week.
Sven Schuilenburg is inviting everyone for a BMX jam at Skateland Rotterdam (Netherlands) on 27 January next. Barry has taken care of some DJ's for that night so there will be some tunes as well. The 27th is already next week so get your agenda out and pencil it in if this sounds good to you.
Today was qualifying with the finals being planned for tomorrow. It was a crazy time with lots of unique and crazy tricks which we'll report on at some stage. For now we'll give you a party image, shot at the Kumu museum. I swear that Dave Mirra is in that photo somewhere. As usual we ended up in Hollywood which is only a short cab ride away. More tonight, I guess.
With super wireless internet connection over here in Estonia it's possible to keep on working. Somewhere in the city Dean Hearne is doing the same thing and he just finished adding a Corey Martinez blog to the United website. You can follow what Corey is up to, where he's going, who he's filming with and what he thinks of Estonia. Mike Ardelean's blog should be up some time next week if Dean can find some wireless connection while on the road. Watch the vids and pics on the United Bike Co website. They've got a killer team so expect something good.
It's 4:05 am and we just got back from Bonnie and Clyde which actually is the hotel bar here in Tallinn, Estonia. Damn wasted but we want to keep you informed of what's going on over here. Didn't see too many flips on the contest floor today during practice but saw an amazing performance of Luke Marchant on stage pulling off the flip. Qualifying tomorrow so stay tuned. Watch it live on the internet. Everyone is here it seems like. Go to the Simpel Session website for the link of the live broadcast and don't miss a thing. Sorry, no live party webcams are up...........
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
