After 12 successful years as an X Games event, BMX Dirt will not be in this year's lineup. BMX Big Air, which was featured as a pay-per-view event at X Games 12 (2006), will now be part of the live network coverage. Other BMX disciplines are Vert and Park.
We received an e-mail from the Tuff Bros who informed us about an indoor contest that will take place on 13-15 April in Hannover, Germany. There's all kind of good stuff going on (cocktails, BBQ and sleeping in the heated hall) so next to riding the park and entering a Best trick contest or two, you should be having a good time.
FBM are going to get together with the Bicycle Film Festival in NYC, on May 19th. and help put together a BMX end of the event, including some video Showings, a submissions contest, and a Bunny hop Contest outside the theatre, where we will be putting up cash for a winner, and throwing some other small comps as well.
Just wanted to send out a last minute reminder about the Flatland Contest during the Toronto International Bicycle Show in Toronto this weekend. The CFO is presenting the "Flatland's Unlimited" contest series the entire weekend of March 2, 3 and 4th. Chase Gouin will be on site providing flatland demos and Pro Riders will be trying to de-throne Terry Adams and take their share of the 4K pro purse!
The successful Simpel Session BMX freestyle contest that took place in Estonia last month is airing on Fuel TV this week. Catfish did interviews with Mike Spinner, Dave Mirra and others in the Tallinn report so check out the "Weekly Update with Boost Mobile" that started on 24 February and will go on all week airing four times per day. The show is 30 minutes long and edited by Dave Mavro out of five 90-minute tapes.
-Colony BMX are gracing Nick Richardson with his own siganture frame to go along with his Bloody Oath Bars that are available now. Nick's frame will feature the special tubing that Colony have access to dubbed, Colonized tubing. This special tubing affords all our frames a really light weight ride, yet still very strong. The Bloody Oath will come in two sizes, 20.85 & 21.25 TT. Prototypes are being made now & are expected to weigh in at around 4.1lbs !! Yes, 4.1 lbs. Nick's frame along with the MVP, Dave Freimuth's signature, will come in 20.25 (4.65lbs) & 20.75 TT (4.7lbs) & will be available in July this year.
