Sam Willoughby (AUS) and Caroline Buchanan (AUS) were the fastest time trial riders on 14 September in Abbotsford at the final event of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Series of 2012. Canadian Olympian Tory Nyhaug raced his best time trial of the season coming in second only by 0.023 seconds behind the reigning World Champion Willoughby.

The Time Trial superfinals were won by Caroline Buchanan and Sam Willoughby from Australia. For Buchanan it was her 6th time trial win this year winning all the world cup time trials, the world's TT and the Olympic time trial. She's looking good for the overall World Cup Supercross title on Saturday. World Champion Magalie Pottier is out with a broken hand.

In the Men's class Willoughby gained some self confidence by winning the Time Trials in front of local hero Tory Nyhaug and Twan van Gendt. TT specialist Connor Fields ended up in fourth place.

The Final Round of the 2012 UCI BMX World Cup Supercross series is taking place in Canada. Friday saw the time trials where the riders get to ride one lap, one rider at a time. The goal is to make it to the top 16 so you can race the Time Trial Superfinal on the same day. Another goal usually is to make it to the top 64 in the men's class or the top 32 in the women's class so you get to race in next day's main program.

Elite male and female BMX racers wishing to receive a permanent “career number” from the UCI can submit their requests to USA Cycling up until October 12. The UCI introduced the permanent number system in 2006 as a way for elite riders to obtain exclusive rights to a career number for their entire elite career. The system allows riders to market themselves by giving media and spectators an easy way to identify them on the track.
