Only from the mind of Kevin Porter would a concept of the Ratty Bike Fest come. The second annual Ratty Bike Fest went down in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this past weekend at 4 Seasons Skatepark. Kevin got the idea during a typical contest run a few years back where he was competing against 4 of his friends. None of them cared about winning..they just wanted to have fun. Kevin realized that this was the key ingredient in having a successful BMX contest. Kevin felt that competition took away the fun. So he devised a 4 man team format in which teams competed against each other. The key being that you have a 4 man team and you all work together to shred. Last year Ratty drew huge crowds and some amazing riders and for the 2nd year things got even bigger. Riders from Florida, Canada, Colorado, California, Ohio, NY, Georgia, and even Washington state, all converged for a smashing good time all in the name of BMX.
We (me and Joey "BirdFlu" Hill left DK on Friday and headed up to Milwaukee. I knew there was a lot of chaos going on up there so we drove really fast and made the 8 hour trip in about 5 1/2 hours.
Sentenced to life Sentenced to life is the new flic by Brian Purdy who was also in charge of some Fox videos. Brian is not a 100% bmx filmer but more of an extreme sports filmer with snowboarding, skateboarding, bmx and also fmx. But this fact doesn't mean that Sentenced to Life is not 100% bmx. The film is pretty much based on Dave Mirra with a very impressive part - street/park riding only, no vert! Other parts belong to Dave´s friends like Josh Harrington, Scotty Cranmer, his new Mirraco teamrider Ryan Guettler, Matt Beringer and Mike Aitken. This list is a guarantee for bmx entertainment as you can imagine. Every riding style is served here. Before each part starts Dave introduces everyone with some words and discribes their styles in his way.
There is also a very nice bonus section with Mirra, Harrington, Cranmer interviews and bonus riding with Rob Darden and co. The only thing I dislike a little is the lack of riding noises. The music choises are great but some more authentic noise would be cool too..... But still Sentenced to life is worth having it in your dvd rack - espacially for watching Mirra's and Cranmer´s part.

Depending on the discipline, between 10 and 20 athletes are pre-qualified.
Athletes who are not pre-qualified may qualify for the Panasonic Open and Right Guard Open, the Tour’s first two events, in one of the following ways:
– Monterey, California – So far in 2006, GT Bicycles’ 16 Expert Joey Bradford has picked right back up where he left off in ’05 after winning his first ABA NAG#1 title last November at the ABA Grand Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After, the Grands, the head honchos at Pacific switched Joey from Mongoose to GT. Before his GT debut in Reno, Joey switched up tire size and changed crank length, which gave him some gearing problems. Reno was a start to the year that Bradford feels wasn’t quite up to snuff. Of course for Joey, with a second and third in 16 Expert, anything less than a win is sub-par. Joey made up for it with a 16 Expert double in Bakersfield including a great high low pass between Sowers and Woodmansee to take the lead in Saturday’s 16 Expert main. Check out the following movie to see this main.
A couple years ago, to make things a little more challenging, Bradford started racing a Mountain Bike in cruiser. Bradford busted out his brand new GT MTB, powering it to a pair of thirds for the weekend. Not bad for a bike that’s at least 10 pounds heavier than the competition.
The cat is out of the bag. Taj Mihelich has given up his co-ownership of Terrible One. To avoid the rumours going ever crazier, we wanted to show you what Taj had to say.
Hello everyone! Ok, lets see, from what I’ve heard the rumors are getting out of hand. I have indeed made some major changes in the last few days, but nothing as dramatic as the leaving Austin to take Roscoe to race the Iditarod Arctic Tundra race!
I’ve decided after a few months of deep thought and consideration that I am going to officially leave the business side of Terrible One.

Props really caught me with this one. To do reviews you need to find time to watch the DVD and then watch it again while you type up your review. With 7 other DVD's on the stack to review on FATBMX, it's hard to find time to finish it all. Props usually produces a decent length issue every time but this one was over 2 hours long. There was no need to add another previous issue of Props to #59 as they had maxed out on time already with all the footy.
Seems like #59 seriously goes down as the best one yet. I know we keep saying that but with the variety of the riding and spots, it's really a video that you need to see. The Backyard jam at the end of last year was off the hook. Street is where it's at and with almost a hundred riders on course you know that the finals will rule. The section is almost 8 minutes long and full of big tricks from Aitken, Osato, Hennon, Young and the others.
