December, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tennessee. It wasn't seen at Metro Jam, it wasn't at Interbike and it wasn't at a corporate shindig to schmooze the video sponsors. Mat Hoffman premiered the new HB video, Broke Off video in Memphis, Tennessee to a room full of kids who know what it means to be broke off. Young eyes, bald heads and blue masks stare back at Mat. Suddenly his 20 surgeries, wrecked shoulder and ruined knees seem like a blessing. "You can't give these kids much," says Mat. "There is a harsh reality here, but you can give them a moment to forget about the challenges they have in front of them and just have a good time. This gives my job purpose."
It seems like more and more people have crossed the barrier that Cary Hart smashed so many years ago at the Gravity Games when he committed to sending his full size motorcycle upside down. Some have taken a safer line and wisely tried to flip smaller bikes or done jumps with sand landings in case of a crash. Allan Cooke only knows one way to do things, and that's 100%. BMX Friends: I want to let you know that I have made the decision to leave USA Cycling (USAC) as their BMX Programs Director. This decision was mine alone and did not come easily. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity USAC gave me and learned a tremendous amount in a very short period of time. Despite leaving, I can tell you that USAC is fully committed to the success of the sport and understands that BMX has its own unique needs and circumstances to consider on a regular and ongoing basis. Since I began with USAC in the spring, I believe things have been successfully kick-started and much of which we had hoped to put in place, has. I hope that the BMX community now knows that USAC is a friend and that their core interests - to grow the sport and help continue to strive for international excellence - are the same core interests of the racing community.

Mat Hoffman’s Long-time Business Partner, Fellow Rider and Friend Heads to California and Takes New Position at IMGOKLAHOMA CITY— Hoffman Enterprises announced today that founding partner Steve Swope will be moving to California and taking a position with IMG in its Action Sports division effective January 2007. “Steve has been a great business partner and will continue to be one of my closest friends and confidants,” said Mat Hoffman. “I am happy for him and this opportunity as he was already moving to California in support of his wife’s recent promotion. I am going to miss him in Oklahoma, but I know this is a good thing for Steve and a good thing for the action sports community.”
Swope and Hoffman grew up in Oklahoma together and were professional riders beginning in the mid-1980s. When Hoffman decided to start Hoffman Bikes and Hoffman Promotions (1991), Swope worked diligently alongside him and earned partnership in the businesses. More than twenty years later, Swope and Hoffman are more like brothers than business partners.
Stolen Bikes have come out with some great completes lately. Some of them are completely specced with Shadow Conspiracy parts. We asked Stolen's Dave Wooten what the deal is all about.
What's the cooperation with Shadow Conspiracy on this bike? Dave: Basically we (Stolen) spec'd the bike with John Jennings' input, he actually came up with the name 'Heater', which is gangsta for a hand gun. Shadow designed the graphics and we all worked together to come up with the color ways.
