UCI BMX SX World Cup Saint Quention-en-Yvelines, France by Niek Kimmann.
The 2018 UCI BMX SX World Cup season kicked off on March 30- April 1st, just outside of Paris France. Tioga Supported riders Laura Smulders, Niek Kimmann, and Joris Daudet all started the season off with World Cup wins. Watch as we recap the UCI BMX season opener.
In a post Olympic year the interest in the UCI BMX SX World Cup was expected to be less than usual. With record numbers of participants in Papendal as well as Zolder, reality showed otherwise. The back to back racing between The Netherlands and Belgium also proved to be a success as riders from overseas could hit up 4 races in two weeks time. Laura Smulders (NED), like many of the other girls, had raced the Papendal and Zolder tracks several times before but didn't have to deal with a jet lag at the beginning of the season. Argentina is a rough one for everyone (travel-wise) but the TVE-Oegema rider held on to her red plate to the end. With two wins in Argentina Mariana Pajon (COL) did what she needed to do and claimed 2nd overall just in front of Simone Christense from Denmark. 58 ladies scored points. Here is how they ended up.
The 2017 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series was held over 6 races. Three double race day weekends are now behind us and Frenchman Sylvain André walked away with his first World Cup title. It came down to the very last race where especially Connor Fields (USA) still had a shot at the 2017 UCI World Cup title but Sylvain used the support from back home to make it happen in Argentina. Tory Nyhaug (CAN) grabbed third in front of Dutchies Dave van der Burg (4th and Twan van Gendt (5th). 143 riders scored points this season and here is how they ended up.
