Went to Colombia for almost 2 weeks to check out the country with my brother Justin and our friend Robin Dijk. While we were there we obviously had to ride some BMX Tracks as well! Thanks to Miguel Calixto and Pedro Montero for being our travel guides in Bogota / Ubate.
With one more UCI BMX SX World Cup round to go in Santiago del Estero the World Cup ranking looks like this (below). In fact Laura Smulders has gained such a lead that she will get crowned UCI World Cup champion for the third year in a row today after the final race is over. In the Men class Niek Kimmann is in a good position as he is currently leading and basically needs to score more than 6 points if Joris Daudet wins. Ask Brian Foster if you think the race for the 2018 Overall is already over, he can explain that anything can happen in BMX. The race coverage can be watched live here on FATBMX. We advise you to do so.
UCI BMX SX World Cup standings 2018 - after Stage 7:
Name: Niek Kimmann Racing number: #313 Hometown: Dedemsvaart, Netherlands
Being in the top 10 in the UCI World Cup Ranking, what's your goal for the last two rounds in SDE? Niek Kimmann: My goal is the same as always, do the best I can. Last year I struggled a bit all season, and so did I in Santiago del Estero. I went out in semi’s both days and I’m motivated to put myself in the mains this time.
Is the Olympic qualifying period on your mind when you're doing races after 1 September?
I went to Niels's house to have a little session with him. We wondered who would be faster if we had to race on his trails / dirt jumps. So we took out the timing system and the camera and gave it a try! A bit of a different video than what you're used to from me, but I hope you like it!
