Portugal turned up the heat for this weekend’s qualifier in Loureira — and so did the riders. Under a blazing sun and blue skies, the action was fierce, the racing tight, and the vibe full of good energy, freestyle flair, and trackside smiles. In the Elite Men’s race, it came down to the smallest of margins. Malo Dusseau Brossard (FRA) and Nils von Niederhäusern (SUI) went bar to bar in one of the closest Big Finals we’ve seen this season — just 0.006 seconds between them. Malo took the win, but Nils walked away with UCI World Final qualification and a performance that turned heads.
Spain’s Sergio Vegia Amando took third after winning the all-Spanish Small Final against Marcos Lorenzo Manau, while Luca Eckhardt (GER) lit it up on the MTB and earned his spot in Monthey with a fifth-place finish and style to match — thanks to Malo already securing qualification earlier in the season.
In the Elite Women’s field, Alba Fernández López (ESP) was in a class of her own.
This day in Bmx was a very special one for me and I think for the scene in Portugal. Everyone went beyond himself and the Energy was just more than Intense. I'm Happy to say that now one got serious hurt and i think everyone of us will remember the scenes of the Jam.
After being in BCN for 6 months returned to Portugal.
This video was filmed with a small compact digital camera and it contains simple maneuvers on setups that I found interesting points on my permanent quest of searching for new places to express myself.
Tom Dugan, Chase Hawk and Ruben Alcantara spent two weeks in Ruben's hometown of Malaga, Spain and Lisbon, Portugal while filming in the 11th hour for the new etnies full-length video "Chapters". Here's a behind the scenes look at what went down in between the wild moves collected. Huge thanks to etnies BMX.
