Back in 1990 we were surprised to get a dirt spot in Aarle-Rixtel. The elevated dirt oval received some shovel love right away and in April the first jam was held that turned into the Mini FATJAM. Transfer to 2017, 27 years later, and that spring jam is still alive. And guess what, the Sugar Hills trails haven't looked better over all those years. The rain has helped to fix the place up and the sun's out all week to finish it off. And yes, you're welcome to test the jumps and get a headstart on the others who are coming over on Saturday next week for the annual jam.
We've collected some prizes again, donated by our awesome sponsors, which will be going out around 15:00hr so for those who only ride dirt once a year, you've got 2 hours of practice because the jam starts at 13:00hr. Visitors who want to stop by Paul's Boutique on 1 April, Paul's shop is open from 11:00hr - 13:00hr only.
The dirt spot has something to offer for all ages and all skill levels. Even if you're not a frequent Dirt rider, you've got something to conquer in Aarle-Rixtel. We've got a small table/roller line and of course the Killer Jump for the big boys and everything in between. The two new starting platforms look absolutely fabulous and will get you ready to pull the entire outside line or the middle line as well. It's going to be good so don't miss out. It's free to ride, it's free for spectators. Free parking as well and you can bring your own food and drinks. No security either. The free spirit is alive on 1 April.
STARTING 2017 RIGHT! Hope the winter has been good for everyone, we are excited for the new year and the warm weather a head and more changes coming to NYC's original ramp park. This year is off to a strong start with our work being recognized by City Parks Foundation, and receiving A Golden Trowel for the Community Parks Initiative award.
We have also been lucky enough to receive a batch of 35 new helmets free of charge courtesy of BELL HELMETS to make sure all of our riders are safe this season. Also look for us on PIX 11 news soon for a feature on the work we have been doing to expand BMX in The Bronx and beyond.
It can be argued that Dave Mirra was the greatest freestyler of all time, however,it’s undeniable that Dave did more for BMX’s mainstream exposure than any other rider in the sport’s history. As a way to honor Dave’s legacy, we’ve teamed up with Mirraco Corporation to create a bike that pays tribute to one of the many models he rode during his career with Haro. In keeping with both companies’ focus on giving back to the sport, a portion of the revenue generated will be donated to DaveMirra.com to support organizations that promote youth cycling.
If Dave’s candy red tribute model looks familiar, it’ because it graced the coverof Sony’s Playstation

Vans pays tribute to over 50 years of “Off The Wall” design history by releasing the Anaheim Factory pack, a collection of Classic silhouettes that draws inspiration from the original footwear produced in Anaheim, California. When Vans opened for business in 1966, a 400 sq. ft. retail store was connected to the front of the production factory, which sold a handful of simple canvas footwear. Today, Vans calls upon those early styling cues to release a modern update to Vans Icons. Every design element within the Anaheim Factory pack could be dated back to the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Style numbers are used to signify the original design mold of three footwear models – the Authentic 44, Old Skool 46 and Sk8-Hi 38. Each style utilizes a marshmallow sidewall with a higher profile and is treated with a slight sheen that was present after going through Vans’ early vulcanization process. The entire offering features heavy a 10-oz. canvas and the Sidestripe models showcase a
