Today I got back from France. I went to the final stage of the Tour de France, or better, Wendy took me there. She was one of the winners in a Rabobank contest and won an all expenses paid trip to Paris for two persons to witness the Tour de France up close. We checked into the Concorde hotel on the Montpernasse around the corner of the Eiffel tower. No complaints there, 4 stars, good stuff.

The first-ever international X Games in Mexico City will take place Sept. 7-9, 2007 at the Palacio de los Deportes, announced by Rick Alessandri, senior vice president, general manager, ESPN Consumer Products and X Games Franchise Managing Director. Along with presenting sponsor Rockstar Energy Drink, the competition will include the world's top athletes competing in the disciplines of BMX Freestyle, Skateboard Street, Skateboard Vert and Moto X. X Games Mexico will be co-organized by OCESA, the largest entertainment company in Latin America. "Our goal has always been to serve action sports fans wherever they may be, and we believe the excitement of the X Games truly transcends across all cultures," said Alessandri. "As the X Games franchise has continued to grow and become increasingly embraced internationally, we are very excited and enthusiastic about bringing the inaugural X Games Mexico event to the people of Mexico City."

Tuesday morning arrived and saw Stephen on the FES bikes. These are the bikes where electrodes are attached to the muscles on his legs which stimulate the muscles to power the legs to pedal the bike.His physio said that that in the 17 years she had been at Craig he was the first patient to use the FES bikes and be on a ventillator. Not only that he pedalled 5 miles in 30mins which was more than some patients could do after 2 weeks!This was certainly a confidence boost and cheered us all up. He was then booked in for more sessions on Wednesday and Friday.Wednesday came but the effort of Tuesday had tired Stephen out

Mongoose are selling a bike with the proceeds going to the Stephen Murray fund. The bike is signed by Mongoose pro riders Simon Tabron, Steve McCann and Cameron White. The latest bid for the comlete Mongoose Shield is currently at 200 bucks. With the signed bike having a fair market value of $ 500,= USD we want to see the price go up. It's for a good cause too. Patrick Guimez is organizing a Dirt contest in Tosse, close to Hossegor in the South West of France (near the Atlantic Ocean) on 18 August 2007. It's free entry for the Pro and Am Lords of Dirt contest. Riders need to be able to handle the gap that is followed by three jumps of which the first one will be 8 meters, the second one, 6,5 meters and the last one 4,5 meters. An old Haro Master, bashguard model. In fact, it's Mat Hoffman's old frame that he pulled the first ever 180 flip (it was a bit too up-n-down to call it a "flair") at the UK KOV in Mansfield back in 1990. It was a seminal moment in BMX. Mat pulled this trick, then immediately rode round the back of the ramp and presented the bike to a kid whose dream it was to meet Mat Hoffman as part of his Make A Wish day out. The kid was just blown away. The bike made it back to Ride BMX Mag a year or two later and now you have the chance to bid to own this piece of history.
