Is it becoming common that BMX mags go out for free? Next to The Albion from the UK, Focalpoint BMX magazine from Australia is for free as well. Who's complaining? They've made it to issue number twenty four so it's fair to say that they know what they're doing. When they decided to use this photo on the cover, they made some T-shirts with the same print as well. If you fancy one of those, get in touch with the FP Aussies and check what the costs are on that one as they won't be sent out for free. But maybe they can throw in the magazine with the T-shirt if it is withing the postal weight limits, who knows.
The first issue of The Albion was a great read. Can't wait till issue 2. But the wait isn't too long, the issue comes out tomorrow. Hopefully someone can bring a stack tot he FISE event in Montpellier. We're driving up there tomorrow and it would be good to have something to read on th 11 hour trip on the way back. Can someone from the UK grab me a copy? They're free, but I'll buy you a beer. Cheers.
The new issue of RIDEBMX (USA) ships today. Here's what you can expect to be in it. Innit?
It fits into a small bag or backpack, is easy to operate, and will definitely serve to satisfy your hunger. The Carhartt Barbecue Set puts an end to the irksome hauling about of heavy sacks of coal for spontaneous barbecues in the park. Just a few lumps of charcoal will do to fire up this compact grill. Due to its lightweight construction the Carhartt Barbecue Set is a friend to campers everywhere. Best friends with the Carhartt Sleeping Bag, this BBQ is the perfect piece of equipment that will guarantee all lovers of the Great Outdoors a very comfortable stay during those lovely summer nights spent
Roadtrips are always good. Like this one, the Picture box, by Proper bike co. The new Proper bike co dvd features a trip through Europe with the Proper pro team which features riders as Mike Miller and Mike Mastroni having fun riding their bikes. This film perfectly catches that aspect of riding, with some great shots, crashes and of course awesome riding. Like a lot of bike movies this one is in black and white, it always gives a special feeling to it. Since I am interested in video editing and filming too, this video is a good treat,
As of the beginning of this year Ben Wallace started riding for Mongoose. Their A-team consists of a bunch of foreigners with Australian Cam White, South African Greg Illingworth and Brits Paul Ryan and Ben himself. They're currently on tour in the USA promoting the Mongoose brand. Ben put this bike together with the parts he likes and feels comfortable with. Buying a Mongoose from the shelves doesn't mean you've got the same bike that Wallace rides. Take a look at the pics and see what he runs, bro.
Did you know that content mean « happy » in french? I hope this will be happy content, at least we had some fun producing it. Here's the deal:
Garrett Reynolds has collected some medals over the last few years doing what he does. He is working on getting his own company off the ground so he can promote that the best way possible. At the Simple Session we took some pics of his bike while he was waiting for his own frames to come in. Don't pay attention to the frame but you can check what parts Garrett chose to put on his bike. Build one up just like him so you have no more excuses.
You know what's cool about BMX? you can use the exact same equipment as the pros do. Sure, you need to save up some cash to afford what they ride, but it's available from the shop shelves. It's fair competition and no need for factory suspension or the best tuner to make your ride smoother of faster. You can ride the exact same bike as the top pros out there who take it through backflip double whips, jump it over gaps, ride the steel ross on the mega ramp or try out a new move on the resi at Woodward. Here's Maddog's DK. Check it.
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
