ART is going in a new direction in 2013. The first production is almost done and as usual we get treated by a big list of BMX events and interviews. On the cover is non other than Ryan Nyquist with a trick that automatically gives away that it's him without looking up close. Taken at the Red Bull Skylines event in Paris, a contest that he ended up winning. ART will be adding BMX racing to their work and Tory Nyhaug and Quentin Cayleron were contacted to help out with some content for the February 2013 issue. Old School BMX fans get taken care of by the Windy Osborn article and the Pessac event. Also the FISE in Paris gets covered, the Red Bull COB in Japan, Lords Of Dirt in Serignan, Vibrations Urbaines, the Nitro Circus Live show, and the Vans rebeljam. If you're a fan of Bruno Hoffmann you're in luck too as he's in there, and also Viki and Jesse, and Stephane Royer, Maxime cassagne, Celso Galeano, plus Laurent Venditelli.
Ride's March/April 2013 issue features a hilarious interview with cover boy Tony Hamlin, a satellite dish session in Eastern Europe, Hillage to Pillage 80 mile pedaling adventure, post Hurricane Sandy sessions, a Just For Fun Trip in the Pacific Northwest, Christian Rigal, Pat Laughlin, and more…
The TSG Superlight helmet is my helmet of choice. Been running it for a while now. The good part about it is that it's certified (you all know how important that is now, right?) and light. Well, super light. Because of it, you don't even notice you've got it on your head and that's always a bonus. But in case something goes wrong, you've got something to protect your skull. TSG's description: Combining clean skate design with inmold tech the Superlight is one of the lightest half-shell helmets on the market. A 300g/ 0.66lbs featherweight jam-packed with technical features. Our Snug Fit slim profile is anatomically correct making the Superlight unobtrusive whilst providing maximum head protection.
The Alomar takes styling cues from Vans' classic Chukka Boot and infuses those subtleties with the fashionable aspects of a modern, slimmed down high top to create a shoe that pushes the boundaries between skate and street fashion. Clean-looking cupsole with detail stitching inspired by the high-end sneaker market.
PRO BMX magazine is from Russia and it's a full on BMX production. They're at issue number 9 right now which has a lot of content. Some is generated from Red Bull (Circle Of Balance - Japan and the Vasya Lukyanenko satellite dish project) but of course a lot of stuff comes from the Russians themselves. There's a superman how-to on dirt, a report about a mega ramp in Russia, an article about being injured, and PRO BMX looks at the Young Blood that is coming up. Also Chris Doyle has brushed up his Russian and answered the questions in a multi page interview. The Vans Kill The Line event gets covered and of course it has the regular product section, a bike check (Vasya), pro interview (Vasya) and an awesome photo gallery.
Markus Reuss was let go by Monster Energy and now gets the cover of BMX Rider magazine. Nice timing. It's good to see Markus back on the bike after dealing with too many injuries in 2012. Sweet cover too. Issue 4 has four bike checks from the following brands: Stolen, Stereo, Eastern and JET. Never heard of YET personally but we'll find out when we get to read the new issue which is coming out the first week of February. It also has a report of the Red Bull Ramparanoia in Argentina, where a bunch of riders got to ride some amazing terrain in the heat. The Spot Check goes to Why 'o Land in Braunschweig. Simon Moratz' bike gets the Pro Bike Check, the interviews go to Bob Manchester (off Amity Bike Co) and coverboy Markus Reuss. Short Talks are with Andre Klatte and Florian Koch. Harry Main explains The Wandering in the news section and the Self Made article is about the winter work-out. Nice to have: 2013 Special.
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
