Ever since we moved we haven't received BMX Plus! magazine. Address changing takes a little longer over there it looks like. We found this January 2008 review on the BMX Plus! magazine website and decided to run it so you know what they've been up to.
FlyBikes are trying to reduce the amount of parts on your bike. They do this to make bikes simple, easier to assemble, lighter, and nicer overall. This has been their motivation when they created many of their parts like:
In little time Mirraco bikes have made an impact on the BMX scene with their wide range of complete bikes. Dave Mirra does not fool around and today we show you three models out of their 2008 range; the Blend Ltd (Dave's bike), the Black Pearl Ltd. (Ryan Guettler's bike) and the new Project 16. All new for 2008 are these wethepeople wheelsets in the colours Glow Lime, Oranje Boven, White Powdercoat and Black. The hubs come in black only in all wheelsets. 36 spokes in the front, 36s or 48s in the back, your pick. Here's some more detailed info about the tight pre-built wheel sets that are ready to ride:
Banksgiving is a time of celebration for all that is constructed and creative. It’s about the hustle that happens every time a new spot is identified; hammer meets ply and quick-crete grabs rebar converting our backyards and side streets into rideable lines for all our friends to hit.
Mike Laird built up a new bike for 2008. His choice was the new Mirraco Blend Lite frame with a 20.7 inch headtube. As you can tell from his parts list he is sponsored by Demolition. The total weight of his bike comes down to 23. lbs. Here’s how he did it:
Coming up with a new cover idea every month can be difficult. You can take a rad action shot but doing spomething special is usually the better idea. It requires some more effort but the result is always there. This cover shows Ashley Charles doing a barspin jump off a plank with a few brinks underneath. Not quite the extra labour to build that jump but it makes for a good cover anyway in front of that white (studio) wall. The December issue is full of interviews (Chris Doyle, James Hitchcox, Clint Reynolds, Tom Blyth, Martyn Tambling, Shad Johnston, Anthony Lille, James Cox and Ralph Sinisi) and has its fair share of jams and road trip reports.
