Sebastian Pospischil got the 8th flatland cover of Freedom BMX magazine. At issue #79, that's a good 10% of all covers. For this one Sebastian and photographer Kay Clauberg took a quick trip to Mallorca to find some sun and shoot the photo. There is a 7-page interview with Pospischil inside so the trip was well justified. What else in # 79?

The Mirraco Black Pearl, Blend, Fivestar and Chocolate frames have become available. It was a long wait but now you can buy a frame that riders like Dave Mirra, Nigel Sylvester, Rob Wise, Mike Laird, Mike Spinner, Ryan Guettler and Dave Rytell ride. The top tubes range from 20.75 (Blend Lite) to 21" (Fivestar Lite and Chocolate) with the Black Pearl Lite frame in the middle of the two with a 20.8 Top Tube.
The new format of RIDEBMX has been well received. I haven't heard from anybody that they liked the old issues better. It feels like you've got something in your hands with the thicker paper ad the mat-finish makes sure it doesn't drop out of your hands and spill the coffee over the whole table. In the past I would flip through a magazine and looked forward to having a photo in the mag. These days I hope not to find a photo of myself in the mag because they usually are taken at the bar when things are going a bit wild. Issue 141 is one of those issues which has a party photo of Paul and I which we can't remember where it was taken (Keith?). The good thing is that we have a few kickass party photos of the editor himself so it's time for "payback". Find the photo at the bottom of the contents list. We've got some spares too......haha.

The new issue of DIG dropped on the doormap earlier this week. It left a big noise when it fell on the ground. Issue # 62 is heavy and no, it doesn't have a 48 page bicycle catalog in the middle. Mike Aitken is feature in this issue and we're okay with that. He's got the cover, the TOC, a 14 page interview and 2 pages where they're giving away his signature frame, parts and clothing. Too much of Mikey? Never! And with 148 pages of BMX, there's plenty left for other articles. There's a feature on the unfortunate Jimmy Levan who woke up from a 15 day coma and lost some memory. Received an e-mail back from him the other day telling me it's time to come to Europe again so he's on the better hand now. He can still use your support to pay for the hospital bills though. The short little articles before the Aiken interview starts range from sotries of Mat Hoffman about Evel Knievel, Greg Walsh on Nowhere Fast, the RedBull ghetto comp,
The new issue is now on sale worldwide... First thing you'll notice about the issue is Mutiny rider Randy Taylor doing a tailwhip down a set of 20 stairs. I'll just casually mention that as Walter Pieringer's photo says so much more... Second try (how do you get a second try?) to the pedals. Boom
Team Blowin' it just got their order of version 2 Team Blowin it pads. After receiving their first run of pads, Team Blowin' It have been working with their professional team (Nate Wessell, Tom Stober, Mike Spinner, Daniel Dhers, Zack Warden, Chad Kagy, etc.) on improving them. Co-owner Tom Stober: "We got a few of our version 2 pads about 6 months ago to test out. Everybody wanted them, but we only had a few pairs....until now!"
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
