For some reason I thought DIGBMX had gone monthly. But with the latest issue being the July/August issue it doesn't make sense that way. If this is a "double issue" it is justifyable with the mag being 148 pages thick. Making a quality magazine is tough. Everything needs to make it before deadline and when deadline nears, things usually are going wrong, get delayed and editors end up becoming a friend of an energy drink that will keep them awake long enough to get the job done. A "photo issue" is an easy solution for a break in deadline time but issue #65 of DIG is far from that. Not that there aren't great pics in it because Adam and Dolecki take care of that part. DIG's layout has always been good. It's easy to spot a mag with no style and bad design but we haven't been able to comment DIG on that. It's not stale by any means either. Good job.
This Jamie Bestwick model has the following features:
Heard of Scott Twiford before? Me neither. But it shows that you don't need to be big time to get a cover of BMX Plus! and we like that. Pay $ 4.99 and you have the August issue in your hands and as the cover says, you can win Darin Read's personal Diamondback too. Turn to page 56 for that. Bikes tested in this issue are the DK Six Pack and the Formula Pro XL race bike. Events covered are the Ticos Jam (flatland!), Ricardo Laguna's Extreme Thing (Vegas style) and the NBL Pacific Nationals. Next to that the following articles can be found inside:
Who doesn't pick up a free BMX magazine? Cream published Hors-Serie #6 and distributed the mag during the BMX Masters in Germany. So even if you did find a silent moment you could dig into the free issue which has Bob Haro on the cover. 30 years after starting BMX freestyle he still gets covers and he deserves it too. We owe him. Not only did Bob get the cover, he's got a six page feature too. We'll sum up the contents here so you know what the free issue is all about. In fact, it's a full on magazine in French and English with great pics and art that you should try to get your hands on. In the BMX agenda they forgot the 20th edition of the FAT-JAM (9 August) but other than that they've got a full list of events on page 12. Since Cream is based in Paris you can expect them to know what's up on the fashion side. The new products on page 14 are all about it.
