Steve McCann in Los Angeles,
Zach Warden felt redemption in winning his first X Games gold medal in the GoPro BMX Freestyle Big Air competition in Brazil.
With five previous X Games starts, Warden earned his second overall medal with an Iron Lotus – a trick Warden first landed – over the gap and a triple tailwhip on the quarterpipe. That run earned him a score of 93.66 and the top spot on the podium.
"I've was in Brazil in 2008 for a competition and I’m very happy to be back here,” said an excited
Warden.
"All the competitors are like part of my family."
