This morning from 9am-1pm was practice. Some got up early and rode when it was not that hot but the sun came out quick and up went the temperature. Hot and humid but the show must go on. After a quick riders meeting the contest started with a group of 5 Asian riders. They were given a bit longer than the 10 minutes that the other 10 groups (of 4 riders) are getting because this extra person got squeezed in. Out with injuries are Wade Lajlar, Bas Keep, Corey Martinez and Dhers and Mirra took some pretty hard slams this morning. Whether they'll ride remains to be seen.
More rides showed up today and more are about to arrive to get some practice in on the Metro BMX course. The field looks deep and with only the top 16 riders making it to the finals, the riders will have to throw down if they want to make it. The Asian riders are actually doing real good too out there so it will be an interesting contest which will kick off tomorrow. The imported ramp set up looks good. There are a couple of rails, a fence, a giant tranny to tranny box in the middle, a spine, a slanted curved wall, some ledges, a hip ramp and more.
After 5 days of riding at camp everyone was ready for a change. So we called Ryan to make his invite valid. Nate Wessel had to drive to Greenville anyway so he escorted us for the 8 hour trip. Being on the road is pretty boring... arriving in Greenville at midnight we were stoked to have at least 20 degrees warmer weather, well, at least for a day. we checked into the hotel and Ryan picked us up the next morning to bring us to the unit.
Yes it was a bit of a flight but we made it. Checked in the hotel across the street from the Singapore Metro jam and took a photo from the room. They're still finishing up and when it's done we'll take a few pics and show it to you. Riders are dropping in. Just shook hands with Osato, Freimuth, Whitton, Grotbags, Bibi, Wicke, Martinez, Dhers, Napolitan, Dillewaard, Wise, Wade L., Nyquist, MacKay, Keep and that's just a small part of the riders that are going to be here. It's 32 degrees Celsius and humid but they've got airco everywhere and wireless in the lobby. Stay tight, more to come.
As the weather was mostly cold and rainy we rode indoors, Lot8 and Cloud9. Hannu's bike arrived after 2 days, by this time he was getting used to TM Andy's ride. He was brakeless this time. Good sessions went down with the locals, including Tom Stober, Jamie Bestwick, Andy Alvarez and a few visiting pros. One of them being Mike Spinner who does 7's to get warmed up and has the most dialled footjam-tailwhips. Hennon rode for short periods of time, but they were all like a comp.
So this weekend was crazy! We all got together and threw a bmx jam/party at our Lost Souls tavern haha. It ended up being pretty awesome. A lot of really good riding went down. A lot of people showed up. There was spray painting going on, some swimming, some bbq, and a little bit of trampoline biking was being done.
When you have the opportunity to visit Camp Woodward you take it right? Some of our team riders were thinking about going in early 2007 anyway to get in shape so why not add one or two riders more and make a fine trip?! Then there was this invite from our friend Ryan Nyquist to check out Greenville and the infamous Unit and the trip was settled!! So in March 07 Eastpak teamriders Ben Hennon, Hannu Cools, Tobias Wicke , Alessandro Barbero, Ben Shenker, Axel Jurgens, Bruno Hoffmann and Jean Marie Baertsch , Achim Kujawksi and myself packed the bags,

Extremething is held in Las Vegas each year: bands , wrestling, AM comp, loads of unhappy looking kids wearing black and Ricardo Laguna's dirt comp. This is the fourth year the dirt comp has been held and the airline making me miss my flight wasn't going to stop me from being there.
With $1000 for first place up for grabs Atascadero bike and skate park kicked off their first ever competition. After being open for bikes since December 22nd , Atascadero bike and skate park held their first ever compeition on the 24th of March. Local riders Ted and Danny took the area behind the already established indoor skate park and built a bmx street course. These are a dedicated bunch of guys and were still finishing off the park till 10pm the night before the comp.
