On Saturday, December 13, the Dutch National BMX Street Championship took place at Skateland Rotterdam. The KNWU-sanctioned national championship brought together 16 pro riders and attracted around one hundred spectators throughout the day. With a recently updated course and a strong competitive atmosphere, Skateland once again confirmed its role as the permanent home of the Dutch BMX Street Nationals. Defending champion Mika Bunkers attempted to retain his title but ultimately finished in fifth place. One of the highlights of the event was the return of former winner Joeri Veul, who, after years of rehabilitation following a cerebral hemorrhage, impressively claimed a spot on the podium with a third-place finish. The national title ultimately went to Kimo van Hulst from Heinkenszand.
After doing a BMX 'zine for ten years (1987 - 1996) FATBMX made it on the internet. The year was 1998. Here to stay.
