Name: Quillan Isidore
Age: 29
Hometown: London, England
Occupation: Coach
You recently stepped away from racing and are now focusing on coaching. Looking back, how would you sum up your BMX career and what the sport has given you over the years?
Quillan Isidore: I was very fortunate to compete in the sport for 20 years - professionally for half that time. I enjoyed a very successful amateur career with a world championship win at 16 but, more importantly laid a good foundation for what was to come. Plenty of emphasis on the fun / skills element. Built great relationships with my many people worldwide which I’m grateful for.
From my junior onwards my career was rife with injuries. It was very much two steps forward, one step back. The worst being, a broken femur or two broken ankles and a wrist (in one accident) and too many to list… This however, created a very resilient personality and attitude. The inner belief of knowing I was capable of much more led me to the somewhat small success I had.
I can be proud of 7 x world cup finals with a podium in there and a handful of euro wins etc.

Australian BMX racing keeps producing serious talent, and Jesse Asmus just added another big result to his résumé by taking the win at the Oceania Championships in the Elite class. Moving up from the Junior ranks is never easy, especially in a region stacked with speed, experience, and Olympic-level firepower. But Jesse showed he’s not just there to make up numbers — he’s there to win.
With the 8-meter hill under his wheels and bigger names in the gate, the young Aussie is stepping into a new chapter of his career. We caught up with Jesse to talk Elite racing, equipment, music choices, modern tracks, Brisbane 2026, LA28 dreams, and what it takes to battle at the top level in Oceania.
Time to get to know the new Oceania Champion a little better.
First of all, congrats on the Oceania Championship win! ? Did you prepare anything differently this season now that you’re competing in the Elite class full-time? What has been the biggest adjustment?
Jesse Asmus: I definitely have changed some things since Worlds last year. As I’m going into the Elite class, I need to be operating at my very best to compete with the best guys in the world. I was working full time leading into Worlds in Copenhagen and have taken a bit of a leap of faith and have stopped working to put all of my effort into training and racing.
