Long time International BMXer, Laëtitia Le Corguillé has announced her retirement from BMX Racing and won't get a chance to participate to her third Olympic games... and retires from the sport... Laëtitia suffered a serious foot injury, Sunday at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Manchester, UK while making a run at her third Olympics and has ended what has been one of the longest and most successful Elite Women's BMX careers in the sport.
In her own words "I took a while to give news of my ankle because yesterday afternoon was hard to take ... after all, I have a broken calcaneus (heel bone): 2 large fracture above. This is very bad news because even if all goes well, my foot must remain immobilized for 3 months without contact of the heel on the floor ... three months on crutches. It is the end of season for me. I hoped also to finish my career on a high note at the Olympic Games (even if the qualification was not certain yet ). This will not be the case. After World Cup round two in Manchester England, the Dutch girls move up a spot from rank 4 to spot 3. That's the only change of positions in the top 10. Check the list to see how your BMX girls are doing in the Olympic Qualifying ranking.
2016 UCI Olympic Qualification Ranking Nations, after Manchester. Elite Women.
Latvia moved up a spot without having Maris Strombergs in Manchester at UCI BMX SX WC round two. Renaud Blanc's third place finish helped Switzerland gain a position on the Olympic Qualifying ranking pushing Canada to rank 10. Not all that many position changes but Germany gained a position as did Norway and Belgium. With riders getting injured this list could look different after Papendal (UCI BMX SX WC Round 3, 7-8 May). Papendal will be the last World Cup before the World's/Olympics.

Exciting racing happened in the finals at the second round of the UCI BMX SX World Cup in Manchester, England. Alise Post was leading the final until the last jump where she lost control and gave the win to Caroline Buchanan and podium spots to Simone Christensen and Brooke Crain. In the Men's final the crowd got wild when both English riders got into spot one and two coming out of the first turn. With Liam Phillips in front heading for his fourth consecutive World Cup win in Manchester the indoor BMX arena exploded as he crossed the finish line followed by Kyle Evans and first time podium finisher Renaud Blanc from Switzerland. Next round will be held in Papendal, Netherlands on 7-8 May 2016. Don't miss out on that one.

Rio Olympic hopeful Caroline Buchanan has won the second round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, her second consecutive victory for the 2016 series and third on the trot in Manchester, the win coinciding with the naming of the Australian BMX world championships team. Manchester has become a happy hunting ground for former women’s world champion Buchanan, who capitalised on a costly error from USA national champion Alise Post to deliver on race day, saying that it was tough day but pleasing to win in front of an energetic crowd,
