The international BMX circuit is set to commence this weekend, as the best riders on the planet descend on the National Cycling Centre in Manchester for the first round of the 2015 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series. Instant excitement has been added to the 2015 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup with the introduction of the Lane 8 Double Dice presented by EliteTrax. Riders in the finals in both the Elite Men and Elite Women classes who pick the outside lane (Lane 8) and proceed to win the race, will receive double the prize money when they cross the finish line.
Normally, the outside lane is not considered the most favorable starting position in race. The fact that you cannot protect and control the race in the first turn in the same way as being on in the inside is something riders consider when they pick a gate position. Riders can make their own gate pick in the finals based on their semifinal result. The fastest rider in the semifinal heat gets ‘first pick’ on the 8-position starting gate.
The 2015 UCI BMX SX season is upon us. The World Cup will kick off in Manchester this weekend with qualifications on Saturday and the actual race on Sunday night. Who will qualify for the main program? Who will make finals? Who will make the podium? Who will win? Can Liam Phillips pull it off three times in a row in England? Find below the 2014 overall ranking in the men category. It's now task to score points heading into the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Every nation needs the points to send as many riders as possible to Brasil next year.
