American Bicycle Company (ABC) is pleased to announce the addition of industry veteran Art Ornelas to lead its sales team. “Art’s experience in sales and as an industry sales rep and his knowledge of the Southern California market will be a big help to us as we develop our product line and open new dealers. We are very excited to have him join the team,” said Toby Henderson, ABC’s co-owner.
Ornelas brings with him more than 25 years in the bicycle industry handling sales, sourcing and product placement, starting at GT Bicycles in the early-1990s and at Nirve in starting in 2001.
“Adding Art to the team is a very timely and major accomplishment for ABC. We have product sitting in the port of Los Angeles, more on the water and much more being produced as we speak. Having an experienced sales director in place will allow us to serve our customers and get them the product they want and need,” said Marc Cote, ABC’s co-owner.
Prior to joining ABC, Ornelas stepped out of the bicycle industry and did a stint selling industrial machines. The Southern California native began working at ABC in August, using his decades of experience to hire sales reps nationwide, sign distributors worldwide and set up a dealer network for

American BMX Company (ABC) is pleased to announce that it recently signed a deal with Tange International Co., Ltd. giving it exclusive worldwide rights to Tange BMX. “Tange is a great addition to the ABC family of BMX brands, which includes Race Inc., Bottema and Cook Bros. Racing,” said Marc Cote, ABC’s co-owner. “Like all our brands, Tange played a major role in the development of BMX racing, producing some of the most iconic forks under the Tange brand, as well as for other companies. They also made frames and a bunch of other components. We plan to build on that history and create a new line that refences that past, but with products that are for modern bikes,” he added.
As part of the multiyear deal, ABC is responsible for developing new products and global marketing for Tange BMX. New products may include reissues of once-popular Tange BMX forks redesigned to fit modern bikes, as well as frames and other products.
“We’re going to make a mix of Tange-branded fames, forks, bikes and components that will take styling cues from the stuff Tange made in the 1970s and 1980s,” said Toby Henderson partner in ABC. “We’re really excited to be working with such an iconic brand as Tange.”
ABC’s Race Inc. and Bottema brand after-market forks are already made by Tange and feature the famous Japanese BMX brand’s logo stamped on the steerer tubes.
It's always a hell of a drive going to Eurobike. Especially the trip home after spending a couple of days on your feet and sleeping less than normal is rough. But if you want to know what's going on in BMX and its industry, it doesn't hurt being present. With little expectations Philip and I left Helmond for FN. We made a quick stop at the Hockenheim F1 circuit where the Swiss Porsche Cup was held. After the mid trip break we made it to Friedrichshafen 9 hours after we'd left home. As I said, a bit of a drive.
The pre-printed media passes worked so we made it in without any problems. Media centre West was closed which was an indication that this year's Eurobike show was smaller than usual. In fact, some

American BMX Company (ABC) is thrilled announce that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) dismissed a challenge by J.B. Witmer Company to its ownership of the Cook Bros. Racing trademark. “We are happy this is behind us so we can move on with our plans to develop and sell a full line of Cook Bros. Racing products. We are really excited about the products we’ve already developed and what is to come,” said Marc Cote, ABC’s owner.
According to the USPTO, the trademark for the brand was deemed “dead” in June 1998. It was last registered by the J.B. Witmer Company, Inc. in November 1991.
ABC applied for the “dead” trademark in August 2020 and received preliminary approval in November. Following ABC’s announcement that it acquired the trademark, attorney Timothy M. Brown, on behalf of J.B. Witmer, filed a request for an extension of time to file an opposition to the ABC trademark application with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) on Dec. 14. On Dec. 15, the TTAB granted a 30-day extension.
