Straight from training camp in the USA we received this message from Pro BMX racer Raymon van der Biezen:
"I’m very happy to have Specialized on board as my new partner for SPD shoes. They not only have the lightest, stiffest shoe on the market, they are well known for high quality products. At the moment I’m testing the 2013 S-Works MTB shoe, this shoe feels comfy but also really tight! These facts are important to my performance. It’s a real honour to work with such a big company, I’m looking forward to promote their shoes!"
At the same time Raymon left some nice words for long time SPD shoe supplier Shimano: "I would like to use this moment to say thank you Shimano for helping me out with the bike and shoe products by sponsoring the Dutch National Team all these years!"
Name: Dale Holmes Hometown: San Diego Occupation: I guess Team Owner, now... Chase / Stay Strong
For years you were a pro racer yourself. Then you worked for a company to do their BMX race program. Now you've started your own team. What made you decide to go this way? Dale Holmes: I have always enjoyed racing and working for notable companies over the years and remain grateful for those opportunities. I did, however, feel it was time to do something on my own. It's really important to me to invest all that I can and be the best I can. I wasn't feeling as though FA and I were still on the same page and it was time to make a positive change. I like working with Christophe and Pete at Chase/ BMX Racing Group, as they have a vision and want to move forward and build a solid company and I look forward to being a part of that. They are both passionate about BMX too and we all share the same vision of building something great together.
Name: Donny Robinson Age: 30 Hometown: Napa, CA Sponsors: SE Bikes.
Congrats on the amazing results at the season opener in Reno, what kind of training did you do over the winter?!? Donny Robinson: Thanks so much! Well, I really only started training hard the month before Reno, so, not long, and as with most riders and how their training schedules are structured, they never real come out on-fire in Reno. I felt good on the lead-up and wasn't going to miss this race though, so I'm happy and have no excuses for how I performed.
You’ve raced at Reno for many years. Has this always been a race that worked out for you? Donny Robinson: For the most part, Reno has always been really good to me. It was my first national ever; my first Pro race, and also where I got my first A and AA wins. I'm going to have to give

It feels great to be back in training with the team, but the first few weeks felt really tough! Now I’m back in sunny California for training camp… After being out for several weeks due to surgery and a forced vacation it was pretty tough to pick up the fulltime training program, because I didn’t have my workout routine for weeks… My wrist and shoulder healed up quickly, so I was able to do most things soon. Having the plates and screws removed feels a lot better. Only the scars can be sensitive sometimes.
Being back in training with my teammates feels good. We all like to achieve our dreams, so we need each other to get better, faster, stronger and also support each other in good and bad situations!
