The beginning of 2016 marked 10 years of existence for Madera. From three simple products to a full line of parts, we have grown thanks to two things: the people who have supported us and the riders who represent us. So, to celebrate 10 years of American-made BMX parts, 10 years of riding and traveling, and 10 years of great times, we think it's fitting to showcase the riders who keep us going in a video made for the people who have kept us going. The team, some old and some new, have worked hard for the last 9 months to do what they do best and share it with all of you who have supported us in the past, continue to support us now, or may support us in the future. Check out what makes us tick, what we are proud to share, and what we hope gets you stoked. Thanks for all of your support and here's to another 10 years!
Myself ( Tama Lewis ), Jett man (Cosmic Rumble) and Dylan Lewis my brother decided too spend new years in Canberra catching up with some good friends! Along the way I filmed our antics and this is what I've ended up with. I am aware its not the clearest and best filming but Making this was a lot of fun and has given me the drive to really get into filming and really learn how too use my camera. I thought I may as well use my time wisely as in some of the trails footage I actually broke my wrist which cut our trip short. As usual the dudes at backbone were nothing but legends and so were all the rest of the locals, A massive thanks for having us!
Short BMX docu profile. Shot on 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm Kodak film stock.
This roadtrip was on my list for a while. Drove from Los Angeles to Miami within five weeks and ended the trip with a 2 week stay on Grand Cayman to ride one of the world's biggest Skateparks.
2016 was my 13th year back riding after suffering a brain injury from a serious bike crash, It was also 20 years from when I began riding BMX. I was keen to film what I hoped would be one of best video projects, at 33 years young! However in the all too familiar Nik Ford time bomb scenario, I had another nasty crash on my bike and needed to have surgery to reconstruct my shoulder. This delayed the start of filming and meant I had a lot to fit in to the later half of the year. Now the edit is complete I am stoked with all the clips, my favourites include the no handed xup grind, suicide double barspin rocket icepick, feeble grind to xup pegs to barspin out and the rodeo grind.
After 17 years driving the Factory Redline rig to races across the US, Team Manager, Jason Carnes is ready to show you the time of your life, touring the USA, seeing all the sights, riding hot spots only insiders know about, and hitting key USA BMX national events along the way. Jason Carnes Berm Academy offers tours from one to six weeks in length, throughout the 2017 season. “The Ultimate Summer Tour” is one of the early favorites, and includes the UCI BMX Worlds in Rock Hill, SC and an incredible coast to coast tour of the USA (hitting the Worlds, plus three USA BMX nationals).
You'll ride like royalty and pit like a pro, all under the guidance of a racer and factory team manager with over one million miles of tour experience under his belt— Jason Carnes!
Here’s what Sam Willoughby says about touring with Jason:
"I have had the privilege of staying and traveling with Jason Carnes for the past seven years. Jason is the most caring guy I know! His specialty is traveling the country and stopping at every BMX fun spot along the way. Jason has been doing this for longer than most of us have been alive and is therefore very diligent when it comes to organization and safety. You will laugh more than ever and learn more than you would believe. I cant wait to jump on board the Berm Academy bus soon."
Monster Energy is proud to congratulate Kyle Baldock, Pat Casey, and Colton Walker on their podium sweep at the first ever Toyota BMX Triple Challenge. This event was the first of a three-stop dirt series that will take place during select Monster Energy Supercross events. The Toyota BMX Triple Challenge aims to bring together the best BMX riders in the world with a points-based, open series for anyone in the world to take part in. The first event, held during A1 in Anaheim, California, was an amazing intro to the series with riders coming from as far as Poland and Australia for their chance to compete against 50 riders in this new, world-class event.
It was particularly hard to film in this spot as most of the ramps are 5ft or smaller but it's on my door step, it's only 3.5 and its cool to give your local parks some coverage. I will be shooting TWS4 this year but I need to build some perfect setups and go to some epic parks!
Here's all of Merritt crew insta clips from 20170102 to 20170108.
