August 31st , 2006, Lake Forest, CA - Heading into to 2008 product development cycle, Felt Bicycles announces that Alan Foster will be taking on the duties of an Assistant Product Manager for Felt BMX. Brian Wilson, Director of Product Development, said: “The new responsibilities of specifying the bikes and working with Asian suppliers are in addition to the duties already on Alan’s plate with BMX Team Management and BMX Marketing. Considering the fact that Alan is working essentially every facet of the BMX category, his official title has become BMX Brand Manager. We congratulate Alan on his new position and welcome him to the PD team.” 

Look out for the Padded Cell road trip from London to Aberdeen from the 16th - 24th September. It will be in BMX publications and we hope to make a DVD of the trip..... so keep an eye out for that later this year. Here is the line up so far. NEW YORK - August 30, 2006 - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the pro tour of action sports, will host the BMX Supercross World Cup Finals as a specialty competition at the Toyota Challenge on Thursday, September 7 in San Jose, Calif. The first of two rounds of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup will be held in San Jose; the second and final round will be held in Fréjus, France, October 6-7, 2006. In BMX Supercross, points are given to individual athletes and to countries in the UCI Nations ranking, which qualifies competing countries into the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

"The UCI BMX Supercross World Cup is the premier BMX racing series in the world," said Wade Martin, General Manager, Dew Action Sports Tour.  "We are excited to be a part of the growth and expansion of this sport into the 2008 Olympics in Beijing."

Axel Juergens, Senad Grosic and Ben Shenker were in Croatia last weekend for the Pannonian Challenge 7. Once again they had a great time and everyone rode great.

-Axel did barrels, 3whips, and treetaps for 3rd place.
-Senad did flipwhips, hang5s, and a 5whip to a bank; 2nd.
-Ben Shenker did no-hand flips, manuals on the wallride, fufanus on backrails and finished first.

When was the last time that the vert contest had more entries than the street contest at the same event?  With Jann Valenta and Steve McCann dropping out, the vert contest in Berlin in front of the Brandenburger Tor still had 15 riders on the decks.  With the vert prelims getting rained out it was straight to the finals.  2 runs each, best run counts.  John Parker and  Peter Geys both only managed to pull off one run and left the ramp injured.  Parker in fact was still injured coming into the event with a fractured hand. He had not taken his bike out of the box since the previous LG event in England and gave it a try anyways.  Peter Geys left the ramp with a hurt shoulder but had his wife  and the kids there to treat him right. 

Tim Eichert's second run was cut short when he  strangely crashed going up the ramp. It bent his bike. Tim's first run was good though as he pulled the smoothest flair I've ever seen him do and did 540-s and one-hand 540-s.

For the fourth time this year there were some serious battles going on between the young Riders from the Netherlands. This time it was the BMX-finals of StreetMasters. Streetmasters is an organisation with the ambition to take streetsports as BMX, Skateboarding, Aggressive inline and more to a higher level. The qualifiers went for training on roadtrips with dutch pro-riders. The foampit training worked out well for the local boys from Rotterdam. They learnt some serious big tricks. In the final they pulled a high 720 over the box (Shannon), a backlfip on a hip (Aimy) and a huge wallride Barry Kohne-style (Selso “Kamikaze” Deluce). 

The 2006 Deconstruction tour has started. On board this year are a bunch of BMX-ers who will be doing shows at selceted venues. On the bus are: Jay Eggelston, Mike Mancuso, Zach Shaw, Tim Eichert and Jann Valenta. They will join a bunch of skateboarders who can handle the rock 'n roll touring and the following bands: Pennywise, Bouncing Souls, Boysetsfire, Thursday and several other bands that play at selected arenas.
