Bicycle racing has existed, in one form or another, for quite a long time. However, the type of racing we are talking about when we talk about BMX can be traced back to the 1960s, in California. Hugely inspired by motocross racing, BMX bicycle races are sprints, often ridden on off-road race tracks. In the 21st century, BMX racing first became super popular, even becoming an Olympic Sport in 2008, sanctioned by the UCI. This addition to, what is possibly, the most prestigious sporting event in the world, pushed BMX to a popularity much greater than before.

Today - Tuesday, Feb 15th, the Grand Opening of USA BMX National Headquarters Kicks Off with Olympians, Ceremonial Races & Demonstrations
What: The Grand Opening of the USA BMX Headquarters and Hall of Fame – Home of the Hardesty National BMX Stadium and the USA BMX Foundation in the Historic Greenwood District.
Funded by voters through their approval of Vision Tulsa in 2016, the City and USA BMX broke ground in 2019 on a new National Headquarters, Hall of Fame Museum and the Hardesty National Track Stadium contain both an Olympic-caliber and Amateur Track.
Who: The 2021 BMX Racing U.S. Olympic Team including Connor Fields, Alise Willoughby, Felicia Stancil, Corben Sharrah, Payton Ridenour.
