Registration is now open for the third round of the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup which is scheduled for May 12-13 in Papendal, Netherlands. Registration is available online for all championship class riders with an active USA Cycling BMX license and closes at 5 p.m. MT on April 30. The third of four races in the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series, the event will be held on the Dutch Olympic-replica track and is the fifth world cup event to count into the 2011-12 UCI BMX ranking season. Papendal is the final stop on the 2012 UCI Supercross World Cup circuit before the Olympic Games with only Abbotsford, Canada remaining, Sept. 14-15.

Racing round 2 of the UCI BMX Supercross series in Norway gave me some more confidence after my injuries… Because of the weather issues in Norway the organization decided to organize the UCI BMX Supercross round 2 indoor, so they would be sure they didn’t have to cancel it. They actually had a great, new indoor facility that’s big enough for a nice BMX SX track.

Together with GSX, the organization did a good job, not only because of this great facility, but also on the track. This track had some nice jumps and decent turns made with bricks. For people outside Europe those brick turns were something new, but we are used to that, because we see that at many outside tracks in Holland.

Practice started on Thursday. I felt okay, but had some issues

USA Cycling is pleased to announce the roster of nine athletes it will send to round three of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Papendal, Netherlands, May 11-12. The Papendal World Cup will be held on the Dutch replica of the London Olympic BMX track.
The event will count toward the 2011-2012 UCI BMX Nations rankings; which as of May 28, 2012 will determine each 

Exciting times and lots of news from the past AMAZING week here in Norway at the 2nd UCI BMX Supercross World Cup/Olympic qualifier of the year. Over 170 riders from 26 nations were registered for this spectacular three-day BMX-event in Norway’s Randaberg Arena. This was the second stop of the UCI BMX Supercross of the 2012 season and is considered to be one of the key events in BMX leading up to the 2012 London Olympic Games. For some nations this event could be a key-qualifier, while for others their focus will be on other events this year and the World Championships held in London.

Time Trials is not my thing and if I finish in the top 50% of the field I am happy and know I’m quick enough to do well in the moto’s.

The second round of the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series continued in Randaberg, Norway on Saturday with Connor Fields (Henderson, Nev./Chase BMX) winning his third consecutive supercross world cup main. Alise Post (Saint Cloud, Minn./Redline) also earned bronze with Arielle Martin (Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) finishing fifth in the women’s final. It came down to the closest photo finish ever in supercross history, but Fields held off the surging Australian Sam Willoughby to earn his third consecutive supercross world cup victory.

“He had a little more gas in the tank than me there at the end,” said Fields. “I felt him coming up down the last straightaway, so I gave it everything I had. He is a competitor and trains really hard and that just means I’ll have to go train even harder.”

David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Free Agent-Rockstar) and Mike Day (San Diego, Calif./GT Bicycles) finished 10th and 15th respectively after being eliminated in the semi-final round.
