GoPro video from my semi and final of the 7th stop at the UCI BMX SuperCross World Cup Tour in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
For the 6th year in a row the UCI BMX SX World Cup stopped over at the BMX SX track located at the Sport Centre of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The final round of the 2018 World Cup season was raced in blistering heat on Sunday 28 September. Joris Daudet (FRA) won Sunday’s Round 8 in front of Gonzalo Molina (ARG) and Anthony Dean (AUS), but sixth place for UCI World Cup leader Niek Kimmann (NED) was enough for him to hold on to the overall title.
In the Women’s final on Sunday, Saya Sakakibara (AUS) and Laura Smulders were shoulder to shoulder in the first turn and the second straight. On the last straight, Alise Willoughby joined the duo, and the drag race to the finish saw the three of them cross the line side by side. A mere 0.041 of a second separated the three, with Sakakibara taking the win in front of Willoughby (2nd) and Smulders.

With one more UCI BMX SX World Cup round to go in Santiago del Estero the World Cup ranking looks like this (below). In fact Laura Smulders has gained such a lead that she will get crowned UCI World Cup champion for the third year in a row today after the final race is over. In the Men class Niek Kimmann is in a good position as he is currently leading and basically needs to score more than 6 points if Joris Daudet wins. Ask Brian Foster if you think the race for the 2018 Overall is already over, he can explain that anything can happen in BMX. The race coverage can be watched live here on FATBMX. We advise you to do so.
UCI BMX SX World Cup standings 2018 - after Stage 7:
It's time for the final round on the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Tour where the overall Supercross champions for 2018 will be crowned in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.
Round 7 of the UCI BMX SX World Cup took place in SDE and brought close racing to the track with the best crowd in BMX Racing. Local hero Gonzalo Molina just missed out on a victory in a final that must have had the closest finish between riders ever. Within 0.65 of a second all 8 riders crossed the finish line. Holland's Laura Smulders stayed on the bike all day and turned it up a bit in the final enough to grab her first win in Santiago del Estero. More racing on Sunday as the World Cup season concludes in SDE with final round 8.

The HARO Blackout XL is Haro's top of the line complete bike made for serious BMX Racing. The only upgrade after this would be a Haro Citizen Carbon frame but there's no complete bike available from Haro that features the carbon frame. That Blackout though. It's not the cheapest complete bike out there but the parts it comes with explains why. The CLiQ Citizen carbon fork up front is light and strong and shows minimal flex. Combined with the a tapered head tube, 3D dropouts and the Blackout PTC (Power Transfer Center), the Blackout frame is serious about transforming your power into straight speed. Out of the gate the CLiQ Weaponz 2 piece cranks mounted to the sealed bearing CLiQ BB86 press fit bottom bracket doesn't let you skip a beat. We see top racers ride this machine and for good reason. The bike does not come with pedals which is a miss, but knowing most racers use their own type of Clipless pedals why would you pay for something you are not going to use anyway?
