The Redline RL 20 II Prostyler tube set remains one of, if not THE, most innovative and complex of any BMX frame, fork, and handlebar combinations ever designed. The first (of many) steps in the manufacturing process is "swaging" or, in non-engineering language, "tapering" the USA made 4130 tubing to achieve the sleek aesthetic the Redline RL 20 II Prostyler is revered for. Our raw tubing begins its journey in San Diego before heading north on the 5 Freeway to south Los Angeles, to take its new form in our proprietary swaging dyes. The material is literally forced into its new dimensional profile in a rotary swager. And the complexity doesn't end there, as we create custom pressure and bending dyes to enable the tapered tubing to be adequately secured in the bending
If you are in the hunt to complete your oldskool Redline and are looking for a stem, keep on reading. Redline by Kastan Forklifter stems come in colors California Red, ‘85 Radberry, and Hazard Yellow. For those interested, Redline also has 50 white and 45 black stems available that will ship imminently. This batch of stems are the last of these classic colors available individually for the foreseeable future.
The Redline by Kastan Forklifter stems are painted in the US to match the frame and handlebar colors with pad-printed Redline logos on the cap - just like the originals!
Many other components are coming through, including a new batch of Panaracer tires in white
In time-honored tradition, Redline by Kastan partners with Peregrine to offer you an opportunity to win this legendary Redline RL 20 II Package along with a set of 3rd Generation Peregrine Master mags. This working relationship began in the mid-1980s. TEEL Industries and Peregrine brand founder, Taka Nieda, worked directly with our founder Linn Kastan, supporting Redline's effort to grow and expand into a market-leading, global BMX brand. Nieda's deep industry contacts created essential options for Redline, and with the founding of Peregrine, Kastan opted to specify the Master mag on his legendary RL 20 II Prostyler.
The final mid-80s RL 20 II batch (1984 – 1986) launched in September will close for preorder at 10:00 PM PST on Monday, November 14th. Although we have eroded confidence in this market with the longer-than-anticipated delivery of the first RL 20 II batch, we are resolute in our decision to produce this final run to order and in a range of colors and model years based on the requests we have received since the 2020 launch. Our motivation is to create what you want and whatever you order, we will manufacture. In addition, we will make a small number of additional packages in the new colors. If you are on the fence and have a specific color / year option in mind, this is the time to decide. This selection will not be reproduced.
Redline, a classic BMX bike brand, is launching a new BMX Race Development Team: Redline/Dvide, working with key athletes to support and develop the future of BMX racing. “Redline’s extensive legacy in BMX, dating back to 1974, is deeply rooted in the sport’s conception and early development,” said Larry Pizzi, CCO of Alta Cycling Group. “The launch of Redline/Dvide represents a step forward for the brand in the development of the future of BMX and its competitive community. We’re incredibly excited to support these up and coming BMX athletes and live up to our motto ‘It All Starts With A Redline’”
Redline/Dvide has wasted no time in recruiting immense talent, having added elite riders Alec Bob and Connor Eaton to their roster which is still being fully developed.
Alec Bob is a force to be reckoned with on and off the track. He competed on four Collegiate National Champion teams and ranked number one in his age class globally in 2017. He was awarded the Warnicke scholarship by the National BMX Hall of Fame Committee, an honor only afforded to elite athletes who demonstrate true professionalism, and possess a solid potential for a National #1 Championship and Olympic qualification.
Hi all, for those interested, I share details of a new BMX History project I am working on with Redline Bicycles and company founder, Linn Kastan. Redline Foundations looks back on Linn’s story during the early years - his entry into the emerging BMX scene and the founding of the Redline brand - arguably the most innovative of the 1970s and 80s era. The project brings together a community of ex-Redline riders, industry figureheads, ad ex-employees to tell the story of the brand through video, features, and a dedicated Redline history website.
We launch the project with a unique proposition. For those who appreciate and collect BMX hardware,
Redline stands for everything BMX. It is one of the most notorious brands within the market and naturally any news regarding redline will have fans ears turning pink. Accell Group has sold its US business along with 3 bike brands to the Californian investment group, Regent. The 3 bike brands included in the sale is Redline Bicycles, DiamondBack and iZip. Although these three are being sold, Accell has kept its tight-fisted grip on Raleigh and a number of other famous brands.
BMX has been getting a great rep since online technology has been promoting events and it has even been predicted the larger BMX events will soon be showcased on popular sites including NetBet.
