VERT finals LG Birmingham, England.

Aug 01, 2006
The LG vert riding in Birmingham was rad but like the old days it showed some casualties. Ricky Roich mysteriously dislocated his shoulder after he landed a perfect 540 at height in the beginning of his first run. Doubting if he should drop in again for a second run, he said fuck it! thinking of  the fact that he needed some of the (top 10) money. His 2nd run only lasted a few airs and then Ricky was pulling his own arm again trying to get it back into socket. Just recovered from a similar injury myself, I had to watch in another direction when he was fixing his shoulder. Mark Theaker was riding with a broken wrist but had a wrist guard to support it. He finished 14th and got no check for his efforts.

The Birmingham NEC came to an uncomfortable silence when John Parker (USA) knocked himself silly at the end of his first run and had to be taken off to hospital on a stretcher.

PARK finals at the LG Action Sports tour. Birmingham, UK.

Aug 01, 2006
The second European stop of the LG Action Sports Tour was held in Birmingham, England. Sixteen riders rode a straight final of two 1-minute runs each, best run counts. Ben Hennon was out with a hurt foot, Phil Aller volunteered to go to hospital with Louis Smith who knocked himself out in practice. Craig Stevens walked around with his arm in a sling and was out for the contest too. Who was left you ask? Mike Miller had won the pre-Nass qualification and also the Nass street contest so he could enter the LG comp. However in his runs he couldn't quite pull it together after a few rough days (and nights). He still did the best lookback 360 over the box in his second run. Luke Towey got 14th with handplants over the spine and some tech riding. Brendan Jones got 13th, Ben Manuel 12th, Robin Fenlon 11th and then we're getting to the top 10 finishers:

Bank of the West / HSA Soul Bowl 2006, Huntington Beach, California. By Mike de Wit

Aug 01, 2006
This is by far the biggest event in town and it definitely shows with all the visitors driving around the neighborhood for 3 hours to find a parking spot. Back from last year the south side of the Pier is where all the chaos can be found....the Soulbowl, US Open of Surfing, Volleyball, Fashionshows, you name it, it couldn't be any crazier. I woke up in a craze realizing my battery of my camera wasn't charged and I had a little left on making it on time.

Results Free Flow Tour: Orange CA July 22 & 23

Jul 28, 2006
Re-cap of the winners’ runs by Ryan (Free Flow Tour road crew and judge).

Steven Kennedy took first place in our main event. Steven had close to perfect consistency and a great flow throughout the park. He hit a bar spin tire tap to foot jam, tail whip out. That really caught my attention. Steven also tail whipped to peg stall and tail whipped to fakie on the quarter pipe. In second place was Codey Levesque. Codey was landing turndowns, tail whips, and foot jams. Not far behind was Kodey Fisher coming in third. Kodey was tearing up the course with turn downs, 720s, and big airs.

FATBMX advertisements

Jul 27, 2006
A couple of days before deadline we receive e-mails from Kellie Parsons over at 4130 publishing. She kindly asks for a new FATBMX ad before the end of the week. We then start scrolling through the photo archives to find pics that would work for the ad. We come across all kind of photos that we've shot in the last few weeks and put something together. We believe that the riders we use in the ads are down with the FATBMX site and are okay with us using them in the advertisement. The ad right here is the one you will see in the upcoming issues.
