Klaus Dyba answers some questions about the new People's Store

Nov 12, 2007
What was the reason to look out for a new shop location?
We had a 2 year contract for the old store. We were kind of sure that the owner would raise the rent after the two years. Also the mail-order business grew in the last months and the office rooms were too small for organising it properly. We liked the old store, but it was located near a busy road junction, was hard to park and not the place you'd take a walk. So even the chance of passing trade was limited. Not many non-bmx people walked by and checked out our clothing-section for example.

MTNT Bikes. The one and only real Mexican BMX company.

Nov 12, 2007
If there is a will, there is a way. MTNT Bikes started out of BMX passion. Doing a BMX company in a country like Mexico isn't an easy task but if you stick to it and you are having fun, you can get really far. We sent MTNT's Alex Vazquez some questions and he explains everything you need to know about the Mexican BMX company.

When did MTNT start?

1986 was the year I started riding BMX, I was 15 years old, and it was so dificult to see and get BMX quality parts over here, let alone paying the price. My father had a small tool work shop, and in the same year I started making gyros, pegs and stems, just for my own use, then my friends were asking for them, it was so funny, cause every part was made by hand and actually was like a child game.

Ghetto Jam at South African Beach: 15-16 December 2007

Nov 12, 2007
Too many BMX contests (in South Africa) have become stale, overdone replays of the same old thing for too long...riders are tired of the 'same old same old' and the judges are just the same- 'same-old same-old'. Time for a change! Truckloads of pallets, scrap wood, bikes, friends and good times is what the Ghetto Jam weekend is all about. On the Friday morning before the Jam you can show up and help construct whatever Ghetto ramp setup you want build to add to the existing skate park. Grab a hammer, pallet and some nails- and a buddy and you on your way. You know it's gotta be fun building something you want to ride with your mates the day before a stress free, mellow-style Jam contest. As for the event itself riders are judged by the riders who enter; Am's choose the Pro's who they think stood out and Pro's choose the Am's who they think should be winners. You know it's going to be loads of fun, killer riding and good times for all. See video's, gallery and more from last years Ghetto Jam here

BMX World magazine October/November 2007. Now 100% race

Nov 11, 2007
It's the 12th issue of BMX World together proving that a 100% race magazine can make it and it might have something to do with that big race that is coming up next year; the Olympics. Bob Osborn wrote an article about going to the Olympics that will probably scare you off. People want to go to the Games but with 75% of the tickets being sold to the Chinese (without a possibility to transfer them) and the rest being sold to professional Olympic Package companies all over the world, your chances are slim scoring a ticket for the ultimate

LG Action Sports Championships Day 1 by Brooke Geery/LG

Nov 11, 2007
Once the doors opened to the public at six, the action remained on the street course for BMX prelims. The field was divided into two heats of ten, both extremely competitve. Riders were scored in a two-run, best run counts format. In the first heat, 17-year-old Garrett Reynolds threw down a solid score of 87 in his first run. Second run he proved it was no fluke, matching his first run score. His 87 would hold through the first heat as the high score. When the next ten riders took to the course, Reynolds's score would prove tough to beat, that is, until Daniel Dhers dropped in. With his smooth and powerful style, Dhers linked together banger after banger to post an 88, and finish the day qualified in first. Local boy Morgan Wade qualified in third. His runs were so powerful, that even a fall on a giant gap to rail was barely apparent in his score.

You might not be surprised to read that Daniel Dhers qualified first in the BMX Street Prelims here in Dallas, putting him in his favorite position as he heads into Saturday's Finals event at the LG Action Sports Championships.
