For the umpteenth consecutive year in a row, REDLINE presents the ultimate local race series; the ABA Redline Cup Series. With over 60 qualifier races being held in 35 different states and one Canadian Province, ABA members can put their name in the hunt for a No.1 RL Cup plate by making their main at one of the local qualifier events.

The Greater Columbus Convention Center was packed with thousands of BMX fans and spectators and it was even more filled with the buzz of one of the greatest NBL National events. The Christmas Classic and President’s Cup are always alive with anticipation and excitement and this year was no exception. With the combination of these two events and the addition of the UCI Continental races, race fans were supplied with the ultimate dose of race action to cure their cabin fever.

Race action commenced with Thursday’s President’s Cup, over 30 states battled for the ultimate title. Ohio had a lot to prove as last year’s Cup winners, but Florida wasn’t going to give up with out a fight. However, Michigan surprised everyone with a solid day of racing, proving to all that they were a force to be reckoned with.

The Christmas Classic is a great race that everybody should get to go to. This year it was extra special for us here at Supercross as Sammy made a quick trip home from Switzerland to have Christmas as home and then made the quick flight to Columbus and proceeded to dominate the Womens Elite Class once again by taking the wins both days in the UCI Elite competition. Sam who was only 1 point behind New Zealand's Sarah Walker going into this race came out with a significant lead and is not only the North American UCI Points Leader but now has the UCI Overall points lead as well. Formula Bicycle Company s pleased to announce that they have signed three of the fastest Elite riders in the world to their Factory Team - current World Champion Jonathan Suarez (Venezuela), Olympic front runner Arielle Martin (USA) and former World and ABA Champion Warwick Stevenson (Australia).

“We are really stoked to have the opportunity to work with professional riders such as Jonathan, Arielle, and Warwick,” stated Will Rells, Formula’s brand manager. “They bring years of experience and hopefully will make an impact at the Olympic Games in Beijing.”

Arielle Martin – Elite Women’s – Nucleus Pro – Arielle Martin has been at the top of the Elite Women’s class for a long time. Arielle has been consistently one of the top American riders in UCI competition, and has really shown her strength on the tougher UCI Supercross tracks. Arielle is training hard for the Olympics this summer and hopes to steal the show.

BMX Racing is a dangerous sport. As with the majority of professional sports, the money earned is all-too-often not enough to make ends meet, let alone pay for something as expensive as medical bills. Professional BMX racer Joey Bradford has seen far too many fellow riders and industry professionals become engulfed in insurmountable medical bills stemming from injury or illness. For this reason, in early 2007, the then 17-year old racer took it upon himself to do something about it. With help from his family and key industry veterans, Bradford conceptualized and developed the Joey Bradford Disability Fund.

Intense BMX is proud to announce the addition to the Intense BMX Pro Factory Team. 2007 ABA Rookie Pro of the year David Herman will be joining the Pro Team and his past teammate, 2007 ABA #1 AA Pro and Pro Cruiser rider Danny Caluag. David has signed a 2 year agreement to become part of the Intense BMX Pro team. David will fill the spot left open by Brandon Meadows. Brandon recently announced his retirement from BMX racing after 2 major injuries

The National Bicycle League (NBL) is proud to announce the re-opening of the Whittier Narrows BMX Track in South El Monte, California. As part of an ongoing effort to promote NBL racing in the west, the new Southern California track will be a welcome addition to the NBL Golden State program and will be running local races and practices in early January. The track is located inside the Whittier Narrows Recreation area and easily accessible to every county in the Los Angeles area.

Lake Perris BMX will host the 2008 So Cal Nationals February 15-17th located at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds in Perris California. The Lake Perris Fair Grounds is a spectacular venue, which also features Star West motocross track, Perris Auto Speedway and The Compound, the World's largest skate park. The So Cal Nationals have a long and storied tradition as one of ABA's best events.

UCI BMX RANKING
The latest ranking has been published, and with the Olympics just around the corner it’s getting more intense than ever. All continents have already held their initial ranking events. With the North American continent slightly ahead in the schedule, Mike Day (USA) and Kyle Bennett (USA) have catapulted to the front in the Elite Men ranking. The ever consistent Sarah Walker (USA) has a slight advantage over Sam Cools (CAN) in the Elite Women Ranking.

The City of Columbus will have more to worry about than just Boxing Day sales when more than 2,300 BMXer’s take over the Columbus Convention Center for the annual NBL BMX Christmas Classic and President’s Cup. This year’s event includes two Olympic BMX qualifiers where the top National and International stars will be competing for cash and Olympic qualifying points.

The three-day long Christmas event will take place at the Columbus Convention Center from December 27-29, 2007. The event kicks off on December 27th with the 23rd Annual President’s Cup, a state-vs-state competition, where Ohio will defend their National title against Florida and other top states.

While spending the year celebrating 30 years in business, the American Bicycle Association has also been extremely busy building new BMX tracks. This year 17 new tracks have been fostered into operation thanks to the efforts of local organizations and the ABA. The mark of any company is growth. In the business of BMX, growth can be measured in two ways, memberships and sanctioned BMX race tracks. Not since the early seventies and eighties has growth of this magnitude occurred in a single year.

Free Agent, the world champion BMX race team, has just signed Free Agent New Zealand's Marc Willers to the World Team for the 2008 race season, announced team manager Dale Holmes. Marc is a multi-National Champion and winner of the last UCI World Cup in France, proving he has to be one of the favorites for the Beijing Olympics next season. Marc will be focusing on the Oceanic series, the UCI World Cup and the World Championships in China before final preparations and qualification selection for the Beijing Olympics next summer.

Watch out, Nacho Libre!! When he’s off the track, BAWLS BMX Pro Matt Pohlkamp has been filming a new indie film, “Zombie Luchadores!" Set to release spring 2008, the film features everything you could possibly need – zombies, wrestling, crazed luchadores, BMX (there’s a chase scene with Matt!) and caffeine!
