The Alienation BSX, short for Bicycle Supercross or some might suggest Backyard Supercross, is a One on One charity event run at the bmxultra.com compound at Pheasant Creek, nestled in the Kinglake ranges 60kms North East of Melbourne’s CBD. The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation are the primary beneficiary of the event, however we also help raise money for the Kinglake West CFA (Country Fire Authorite). With the event held in January, the peak of the Aussie summer, you would expect great weather, but BSX history has proved you need to be prepared for anything. We thought we had seen it all. When there's rain, normally it would clear mid morning to a beautiful sunny day, everything would dry up the skies would turn blue and everything would be perfect. Normally.

The BSX has become an institution. An event by riders for riders, and the spectators get a whole lot out of it too, not only with the action packed racing on the track but with all the fundraising activities as well.

Any youth 18 and under whose family income is at or below the poverty level for their community, or who are in any State custodial care can access a membership in the NBL free of charge.

Riders can provide a copy of the previous year's tax return or a copy of the custodial care from their State Family and Children’s Services Department for eligibility in the program. Track directors and operators can contact the NBL for assistance with locating the poverty level information for their community.

This program will apply to both new and renewal applications.

NBL CEO Gary Aragon says, "The NBL is more than BMX racing — it's about families and their communities, and this program is in keeping with that focus. As a foster parent, I understand some of the challenges at-risk youth face, and access to sports is one challenge the NBL can help overcome."

This weekend was the ABA season opener in Reno NV. With ABA/UCI Olympic qualifying points and TV all going on the same weekend made it a big one. Maris Strombergs took this weekend off after just returning to the States from Europe for a break, so it was down to Kyle Bennett, Cristian Becerine and Connor Fields to fly the flag.

Day 1 and it looked like we were on for a big win when Cristian Becerine took the lead in the final with Kyle Bennett in 3rd, only for another rider to dive on them and crash them both out ending the chance of having both Cristian and Kyle on the podium. Connor Fields won Junior men TV main event, so still a good day for us.

Day 2 again both Kyle and Cristian made it to the TV big final. Cristian got stuck with bad lane selection, not much he could do from the outside lane, but Kyle was flying taking the big win from

July 23rd, 1993 - Bike Stolen in Holland @ the World Championships
Actual Journal Entry: I went to the Valkensward track in the morning. When we got there, I found out that the bag that Dave Clymer & I had left with the guy from Switzerland had been stolen. The guy was supposed to bring it here to Holland, but he said that it was stolen in Switzerland. Shit! All of Clymer’s clothes & all of the stuff that I brought to sell (5 sets of GT cranks, 4 gears, 15 pairs of grips) is gone! Then we picked up our bikes & at night Dave Clymer, Neal Wood, & I rode into Eindhoven. There are a bunch of bars down there. We went in to some & drank and when we walked back by our bikes, they were gone! Somebody cut the lock & stole them. Got a ride back to the track with some BMXers & slept in a shady tent.

Looking Back Now: Oh man, what a bad day! It started out with the bad news in the morning and continued on after the bars closed.

Jared Graves has started off his new year with another bang by winning the fourth BMX National Tour on the Gold Coast today. The Beijing Olympian also claimed the previous round held last night. Today Graves got an early lead and managed to hold off a mid field challenge by World Cup series winner, Sam Willoughby. Graves was chased home by Willoughby and fellow Adelaide rider, Brian Kirkham from Adelaide who finished in second and third respectively. For Graves to finish ahead of his protégée, Willoughby, was a relief.. “I’ve had a bit to do with Sam. He has all the talent in the world,’” said Graves. “My plan for the weekend was to beat Sam!”

Western Australian rider, Lauren Reynolds finally achieved her first win as an elite rider today. The win served as a confidence

After crashing in the Beijing Olympic final, Jared Graves has returned to the BMX track with success on his mind and taken out the National Series round on the Gold Coast overnight. The 27 year old from Toowoomba in Queensland dominated a star studded final which included USA's Daniel Caluag and Japan's Tatsumi Matsushita. It was the defending national series winner, Brian Kirkham from Adelaide, who lay down the challenge to Graves but Kirkham had to be content with second place. The pressure was too much for fellow Adelaide rider and current world cup series winner, Sam Willoughby, who dominated the heats to finish in fifth place in the final just behind Joshua Callan from Victoria. Caluag placed a respectable third.
