The Extreme Playgrounds are going strong in Germany. They're in their fourth year and they're still bringing in killer bands, TV time and a BMX comp. In fact, there's a BMX comp at each stop with an other sport mixed in. This time it was wakeboarding but they've also had the MTB dudes at the Dirt session and they'll bring in the skateboarder at the Street session later on this year. But we were there for the BMX part. If you tried to watch it live through this site we feel sorry you had to deal with the music and wakeboarding too. Even the BMX program got changed because of the weather. The hired tent was leaking so only on dry moments the complete spine ramp was available. It was good the tent was there though because drying off 2 square meters on the ramp was better than drying off all the decks, the bikes and the rest of the equipment.
Riders were brought in from France, Holland, Germany, England, Czech Republic, and Spain for the head to head contest. 14 riders in total lined up for the first heat. The rider brackets were decided upon

The brackets are drawn for the Miniramp comp in Pinneberg. Here's how it looks for the head to head contest. With the tent covering the spine mini with subbox and extensions it's going to take off in the afternoon. Check it live here on FATBMX.com. Hannes Gutzeit - Markus Braumann Felix Kirch - Ben Hennon

Tonight, an enthusiastic Sacramento crowd watched the young guns of BMX take on the hometown favorite and succeed as Brett Banasiewicz (South Bend, IN) and Pat Casey (Yorba Linda, CA) finished first and second in the first official MegaRamp ASA Triples (Triples) at ARCO Arena. The 15 and 16 year-olds wowed the fans with variations of their most innovative tricks to advance to the finals and meet head-to-head – a meeting which ended with Banasiewicz on top, winning his second Triples title and his fourth major contest this season. On the way to the title he landed four cash rolls, a trick he was the first to land successfully in competition just two weeks ago.
“All of this is just fun,” said Banasiewicz of his recent wins. “When I ride I have to have fun and entertain myself, so I like thinking up new stuff and adding new twists and then trying them out at these comps.”
Rounding out the top three finishers were Ryan Nyquist

The Snafu 8.6 race has become a fun side event at the FAT JAM. It started a few years ago and is now in its third year. This year we had two versions. One for the kids under twelve which did not have any alcohol involved, and the 12+ class. Well, yeah, uhh, that class did have some alcohol involved but there was no police around to get anyone into trouble. The -13 class was transfered into the "Snafu T-shirt race" where the kids had to open up a T-shirt package, put on the L or XL Snafu shirt and then they had to slalom between some cones ont he way up, and on the way back on their own bikes. The size of the T-shirts got in the way for most of the kids but that was the fun part. They got to keep the Snafu shirts so they'll have something to wear in the next 10 years or so. Winner, with a time of 32:78s was Teun Swanen, followed by Nick Swanen (33:70s and Jan Donkers (34:60s).
The actual 8.6 race went something like this: You first had to drink a can of beer before you had to take the party bike and slalom on the

This was the 22nd FAT JAM in Aarle-Rixtel, that's a long reputation we've built up over the years and it doesn't look like things are slowing down either. The Sugar Hills locals had built a complete new trails section so it was a challenge for eveyone to make it through the jumps and find new lines. With the help of some water, hard working diggers and a baking sun, the jam really took off in the afternoon.
Since there are 30-40 locals in the Laarbeek/Helmond area the starting hill was packed already before people from out of town arrived. Riders from Belgium, Germany and as far as HB found the trails and it was a bit of a reunion at the same time, catching up with Albert Moonen, Rene Hofman, the orginal A4 crew from The Hague, Kalle Arnoldi, Steven Maier, Peter Fastinetto, Kay Clauberg, Andy Zeiss and the likes. So good to have everyone in one place for a relaxed day of riding, BBQ and bullshitting.
The outside line challenged loads of people. I think Desmond

City battle 6 is back in the history books, and it was for sure the one with the most riders who attended, because around 3 pm you could count close to 100 bmx bikes and riders, standing in and around the park. it was insane so thanks to everyone who came. On with the contest then, the idea was to start at 14h, with riders already being there since 9, so we started at 15:30 with amateur, 1:30 to late, or as we call it in freestyle bmx, right on time. after kenneth tancre (15) did a few backflips during practice the number of amateur riders competing dropped a lot, but we still had 20 riders competing for all the nice prices from Ride on and Grounded bmx.
Lots of great trick and everyone trying new things, Stephanie was the only girl and droped for the first time from the big 6ft quarter, so respect! Charles at age 10 being a mini mike atkin did a no hander

Six years seems like ages ago. But we're still doing the same thing. Having fun on the bikes. Loads of it today at the FAT JAM and the OJA after party. Yeah!
We've lucked out so many times with the FAT-JAMs and also the 2004 version had perfect riding weather. It's pretty bad opening up an article about the weather, like I don't know where to start. In fact, the event was held months ago and so many people have asked for the FAT-JAM article that I can't wait any longer to type something up. I just finished the OJA party report which is always a big part of the FAT-JAM. If the party is right, the event was al right. Well, ready about the OJA party somewhere else. Let's go back to the Sugar Hills, once again the venue of the FAT-JAM.

2005 FAT JAM report. Damn, those flags are getting old... The real deal tomorrow August 21, 2010: 13:00hr. Sugar Hills, Valkendijk, Aarle-Rixtel, Netherlands.
In times where everything needs to be bigger and better (and more expensive) it's good to have events around like the FAT-JAM. There has never been a cover charge for spectators. Riders never had to pay money to ride. You show up, you grab your bike and you start to ride. We do not sell overpriced drinks or food at the FAT-JAM. Riders and spectators can bring their own drinks and barbeque or can go out to the local supermarket or snackbar to fill their bellies. The schedule at the FAT-JAM? practically non existing except for a high air or best trick contest in the middle of the session. It's free to enter this contest as well, or better, you HAVE to compete. An accreditation office for the media? No, not really, but there was a portable toilet there. Saturday saw a whole bunch of riders show up at the Sugar Hills

We're happy to announce that our Summer Session BMX event on the 13th of August in Helsinki Finland was a big success. Thus far we've been making the events in Tallinn Estonia and this was our first move out of the country. Stadi Summer Session brought together 50 great BMX riders from 13 countries. Bikers from Scandinavia and the Baltics battled out with some of the best pros from the Western-Europe. Some shredders from Russia and Eastern-Europe also made their way to Helsinki last weekend.
The riding, the audience, the weather, the atmosphere, the course – all were amazing and we want to thank everyone involved or present at the event!
Bruno Hoffmann took the win, pulling almost everything first try and

Did you know that FATBMX has all these reports on file? Just use the Search button to find them. You'd be surprised what you find on the site. Loads of stuff, like the 2006 FAT JAM report. Are you ready yet?
What a day. The FAT-JAM on Saturday saw plenty of riders make it to the Sugar Hills. The trails had been modified during the week and with the little showers in between the sessions, the dust disappeared making the trails even better. New this year was the bank to wall that was only finished on Friday night and had yet to be ridden. Riders from all over showed up with a good number of local kids on BMX bikes. That's always good to see with the future of BMX in mind. The i-pod was plugged in at 13:30 on Saturday and the jam was on. The most asked question of the day was when it was going to start. Dude, it already started. No, the contest! well, there is no contest. To please the crowd we did have an open three hour session and were looking for the best trick on the wall,

The FAT JAM is not to be confused with the Mini FAT JAM that we do earlier in the year to open up the outdoor season. The Mini-FAT JAM is coming up strong too with the 20th edition in 2011 (I believe). But the FAT JAM is the big one, where shit happens, on all fields. See you Saturday in Aarle-Rixtel.
The FAT-JAM started in 1987 and this would have been the 20th year the FAT-JAM took place in Aarle-Rixtel. But we had a break one year so we’ll save the 20th anniversary for 2008. It didn’t mean that nobody showed up. It was almost the most international version of all time with Greg Illingworth there from South Africa, Clint Miller from Australia, McGoo from the USA and plenty of Germans, Belgians and Dutch people.
Those who come over know what they can expect, not much. But there’s no stress, it’s free, everyone can ride when he wants to, there are some tunes and it’s a good time to catch up with other

The Gatorade Free Flow Tour had new competitors earn their ticket to the Finals this past weekend. Holding competitions at Flow and MIA skateparks, the Tour saw some of its best competitions yet. Vinny Manino (BMX park) was victorious in Columbus, Ohio. In Saturday's BMX park competition, twenty-year-old Manino topped the Flow podium. The rider came out swinging, throwing big tricks and big airs throughout the day.

The SNAFU 8.6 Race at the 20th FAT JAM was missing someone: McGoo: where were you? Since SNAFU is the sponsor of this 8.6 race the Dutch distributor took the organisation over this time. 8.6 is a "special" beer from Bavaria with more alcohol than regular beers so the 86 is not 1986 as Mike from Carhartt thought when he saw the new FAT JAM stickers....
The SNAFU 8.6 race is easy to organise: Take some cones, a shitty bike, some warm 8.6 beers, a watch/phone and you are set. The first drinker/rider was Jonathan from Rotterdam and he was very fast: 41 seconds (Drink a bottle of warm 8.6 than slalom the cones and slalom back to the finish line) so the Hardcore drinkers from Aarle-Rixtel got scared at first. Bern is still injured so the Bernbuster took 2 minutes to clear the race, he will be back!
Leroy Keunen, Thijs Swaenen, Daniel Wijsmuller were watching Joshua from Asten setting a very fast time of 29 seconds!

Party report from the 20th FAT JAM from 2008.
Straight after the FAT-JAM BMX action at the Sugarhills I cruised back home to take a shower. I was tired and could have fallen asleep but I knew the party wasn't over and I had to head back towards OJA for another night of madness. I packed my sleeping back, a pillow and a mattrass in the back of the Vito so I was pretty much set and the night could begin. As soon as I entered OJA I

Now it's hard to write a story about your own event on your own website especially when you think it was a good time. How much do you blow it up? Are you telling the truth? Did everyone see it your way? Let me start by saying that we got lucky with the weather. It looks like we have a membership to good weather with the FAT-JAM events.

What brought you to Helsinki last weekend? Philip Kölsch: Well, it was the weekend of the Stadi Session, so it was kinda sure for me that I wanna be there.
Was the Stadi session comparable to the Simpel Sessions that you’ve visited? Philip Kölsch: It was definetly different compared with the winter Simpel Sessions. But that doesn't mean that it was less good!

In a way to promote the upcoming FAT JAM in Aarle Rixtel (Saturday 21 August), we're bringing back some FAT JAM reports here on FATBMX. Get in the mood brothers and sisters. Here's 2009 for you:
The 21st summer FAT-JAM took place in Aarle-Rixtel last Saturday. Most riders weren’t even born when the first jam took place at the same spot years ago but the spirit of the jam has remained the same. Accessible to everyone, free to ride, free to spectate. Having a good time is what it’s about. Back then, and still now. 12 truckloads of dirt had been dropped at the Sugar Hills 4 weeks ago and the locals changed it into a new place. It had something to offer for everyone. Kids, first timers and also a couple “pro’s” enjoyed riding the place. Once again it was hot and sunny. Fortunately this time we had some water to keep the place rideable. Around four ‘o clock prizes were given out to those who did what Paul wanted to see: “First person to do a one-hander gets a Pro-Tec helmet!” it was funny and this went on for a

Three-time Dew Cup champion, Daniel Dhers, 25, took home the win in the BMX park final to close out the finals action at the Wendy's Invitational. The BMX park final was a fight until the end for Dhers with 15-year-old sensation Brett Banasiewicz leading the entire competition. In true form, Dhers rose to the occasion and claimed first place in his final run, earning a 90.50 to edge out the young gun. Among his tricks, he threw out a 720 over the long box,

England's Jamie Bestwick, 39, won the BMX vert final on Saturday at the Dew Tour's Wendy's Invitational. A five-time, undefeated Dew Cup champion, this marks the second consecutive win for Bestwick during the 2010 Tour. Sitting in eighth place after his first run, Bestwick's consistency and his big 540 invert, turndown flair over the channel and platform flair earned him the top of the podium once again. Fellow Englishman Simon Tabron, 36, placed second
