How many bicycle trade shows can one go to? Well, every country has one or more so if you really wanted to you would be one busy man. The UK has always been a strong BMX market and this year at the Cycle Show BMX was well represented. With distribution firms like IMG, Seventies, Moore Large, Split Second, Scoop and Shiners showing their 2010 products it was hard to miss the shiny new bikes. Here is a selection of what we saw at the show. Damn, it looks like there was a whole lot of BMX going on...

6 years ago me and Viki got the idea for KGB-Kuoppa Gomez Bikes after both of us had some difficulties with our bike sponsors and a big desire to do someting that we could call our company. The decission of it happened in Malaga, Spain on our 2 week trip to ride together… We were just 2 of us. No one else. We put all of our savings from the competitions into the born of our new company. We went to Taiwan to talk to the biggest bike agency of the world, sat in the table with cold hearted Taiwanese business men whos been in the business since 35 years. We didn´t have any idea how to run a bike company and only experience at work/studies we just had throughout riding and traveling, that´s all. We just had a drawing of psychonnecta and sarvet on a piece of paper. That´s all we had. Then we started dealing with the business step by step day by day and all of the sudden we sold a lot of frames and bars and we gained a reputation of a company that brought something new into the market of flatland, yes, we did. Lower top tube design that made stepping over the top tube a lot easier.

Sole Technology, the maker of etnies, éS, Emerica, ThirtyTwo and Altamont, proudly announce their plans for direct distribution of the etnies and ThirtyTwo brands in Germany. SoleTechnology Germany (STDE) will be effective from January 1st 2010. STDE will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities in Germany for etnies and ThirtyTwo only. Germany is one of the most important markets in Europe for SoleTechnology and selling direct will allow more control over the brands and strengthen etnies and ThirtyTwo across Customer Service, Marketing and Sales for all existing and new potential customers in Germany. Through previous experiences of going direct, SoleTechnology knows it can offer the retailer a higher level of service across sales and marketing. This has led to growth in all the direct markets. SoleTechnology Europe will be expecting the same focus and growth for the German retailers.

Dorel Industries Inc has acquired the assets of Hot Wheels and Circle Bikes, the UK distributors of the Mongoose and GT brands. This latest purchase is the third transaction in two months. A new subsidiary, to be known as Cycling Sports Group UK (CSG UK), has been created and will be IBD-only. To be HQ'd in Poole, Dorset, CSG UK will coordinate all sales, marketing, distribution and customer service for Mongoose and GT. CSG UK take over the Cannondale distribution in January 2010. Robert Baird, President of Dorel's Recreational/Leisure segment said the creation of this newest subsidiary follows a similar initiative in Australia last month and underlines Dorel’s commitment to take control of its international bicycle brands in order to accelerate growth within the critical IBD channel.
“We have developed a multi-faceted strategy to grow our bike business into a global force and we are moving ahead decisively with this plan by leveraging our excellent portfolio of recognised

What has been a rumour for 6 months is now a fact. Robbie Morales split up with FIT/S&M and is forming his own company. He's taking FIT riders Dakota Roche, Chase DeHart, Trey Jones and Chase Hawk with him to a new brand rumoured to be called: CULT. Just when Dakota, DeHart and Hawk got their own complete bike line over at S&M this isn't exactly what Chris Moeller was hoping for. Here's what Chris Moeller had to say about the split:
"From day one Robbie helped build an amazing team for Fit. I had known Mike, Van, and BF for a long time, but I actually never imagined they’d ride for us…Robbie did, and he made it happen. He also introduced us all to Edwin, one of the most innovative and influential riders ever. Robbie definitely has a gift for spotting the best and most stylish riders around.
I called Robbie yesterday to ask him about some more shady
