What was the reason for you to decide it was time for an old school BMX reunion?

Gerrit Does: Bart, in 2002 I did organise the 1st. Old Skool of BMX Reunion for Dutch and Belgium riders at the BMX track in Luyksgestel-Holland. About 250 people gathered there and we had a great time. Many of the O.S.'ers did not see eachother for about 10 years. Many of them were married and had small children. In fact at this Reunion I decided to organise another one, 5 years later, so in 2008.

It was 10 Euros for a round trip to America for Philip and I. Beats the online specials by Ryanair and Easyjet. And we didn't even get a jet lag from it. The BMX JAM in America was on the program for Saturday and loads of riders took the time to travel to America for a session. And everyone had their pick; there was a BMX track with loads of jumps, some indoor ramps, trails across the street and also a lake jump set-up. The jam meant that there was music for the day and basically no rules. Riding your bike was the main thing, and having fun of course. Using race track take-offs as banks was possible for those who wanted to try things out. Transfers could be made and some sort of Killer jump was set up which Dennis Keunen and Mike van de Kerkhof used to pull their first backflips on dirt. The trails in the woods across the street were a bit soft but a nice addition to the BMX facility that Govert Schonewille has built up. To understand why his son Sem has so many skills you have to see the place. It's a BMX mecca for any kid who loves to ride. And that's exactly what happened at the jam. Happy faces, new tricks being pulled and plans were made to come back soon.

After months of testing to determine the right performance and aesthetic combination, CycleCraft Bicycle Company is pleased to announce the release of the Pro 20” and 24” 4130 Chromoly BMX race frames. CycleCraft takes great pride in the fact that the complete line of frames is fabricated in the USA. During the Martino and Shaughnessy eras, CycleCraft was known for providing a high quality product that performed exceptionally well on the track. The new product line will maintain those positive aspects that riders will always require, as well as keeping with traditions that make CycleCraft distinctive from other frames on the market, like the unique drop out design. To ensure the satisfaction of today’s BMX racer, the geometry of the new line has also been updated. Both the Pro 20” and 24” frames weigh in at just over four pounds.

The completely redesigned decal set, with several unique options,

Govert Schonewille and his family and friends always show up when there's a (local) BMX jam going on. Now they're throwing a jam of their own over in America. Yup, that's true, they live in a place called America in The Netherlands. So if you want to go Lake jumping this weekend (Saturday 12th), want to ride a private bmx track, indoor park section or want to ride their trails, head on over to the Nieuwe Peeldijk. Starts at noon and goes till late. BBQ will be fired up and some music will play all day long. They've got 2 bikes for the lake jump action so bring a towel if you want to go crazy.

Today marks September 11th, a date that went into the history books because of what happened in NY in 2001. I remember driving to Geldrop to pick up a part for my MX bike when I heard it on the news. As soon as I got back home I turned on the TV and was stunned by what happened. This is 8 years ago already and if you let me, I'll continue with some bad news. All round good buddy Peter Fastenroth crashed at the trails the other day and smashed his face in. They had to cut his skull and lift his face to insert some titanium plates and screws. Scheisse! Frank's got cancer. Damn. Frans Swinkels had a burst apendix and was operated upon on arrival in Afghanistan on his next mission. Chris Doyle broke his ankle so he's pissed too. A kid on Philip's school died this week because of a tumor. Way too young. Pim van den Bos' face had healed up from his horrific crash in Belgium and now he has broken his ankle while doing "ne meeuw". I'm sure there are plenty of others around that are still suffering from a crash or illness and it plain sucks.
