Guettler insane front flipThe Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever, season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports, announced the winner of the PlayStation(r) Trick of the Week Award from the Vans Invitational.

Voting began after competitions at the Dew Action Sports Tour's Vans Invitational ended Sunday, August 21. Fans were able to view video clips and vote online at dewactionsportstour.com. Ryan Guettler won the Trick of the Week after he performed a flawless front flip en route to winning the BMX Dirt Finals. Guettler also leads the Dew Cup points standings in BMX Dirt and BMX Park.

"This is motivation to keep on pushing the rest of the season," said Guettler. "I'm happy to be consistent this year across two disciplines and leading the points standings in both. I'm also thrilled that the front flip won - it was just a part of my normal routine."

BMX racing at Dew tourNEW YORK - August 31, 2005 - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever, season-long multi-sport professional tour in action sports, will host the International Cycling Union (UCI) BMX Supercross World Cup Finals as the specialty competition at the Toyota Challenge on Friday, September 9 in San Jose, CA. The fourth stop of the Dew Action Sports Tour, the Toyota Challenge takes place September 8-11 at San Jose’s HP Pavilion, and features professional competitions in skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross. The event also includes a Festival Village with interactive courses, video gaming and athlete autograph sessions.

Mom and Dad from now onWe want to say congratualtions to Dave Freimuth and his wife Patie on the expansion of their family. Yup, it's a son! Here's the 411 from Dave:

I just wanted to write and let everyone know that Patie finally let the bun out of the oven. Our new son Thompson was born at 5:16AM this morning after keeping his mother up for 26 hours... Patie did invent a couple new swears, but who can blame her. I'd rather break my pelvis 2 more times before going through what she did last night!

BMX City BattleHow about one last ultimate battle for this summer? Crime Scene has lined up the 8 eight leading Belgian bmx cities for a two on two battle in the new skatepark at Kooigem Belgium.
Kortrijk, Kuurne, Brugge, Antwerp, Roeselare, Brussel, Ninove and St-Niklaas will be battling each other to become the best Belgian BMX City. On Saturday 17th of September, the Kooigem skaterpark will make place for a bloody battle between some of the world's top riders. Entrance is free. The war starts at 18:00. See you there.

- German Stefan "OBG" Geisler is back on the bike doing vert demos all over the place. This weekend he's doing some riding for a 2 minute Freestyle.ch commercial for MTV and VIVA.

- The complete HARO UK team, consisting of Ben Hennon, Ben Manuel and Anthony Pill, went on a week tour through England with Eastpak riding local skateparks and the transportable miniramp.

ABA 2006 newsThe American Bicycle Association, with collaboration from many of the top professional athletes and manufacturers, is proud to announce an exciting new pro program for 2006 which features increased payouts per event and expanded year-end awards. The new pro series will feature a reduced fourteen race weekend series for the AA Pro, Girl Pro, Pro Cruiser and Veteran Pro classes to determine the #1 Pro in each division.

Also new for 2006, the ABA Race of Champions held on Friday, the day before the Grand Nationals, will be included in the pro points chase.

Etnies BY JAM 2005 August 2005 - Brighton will host one of Europe’s most prestigious BMX competitions as the Etnies Backyard Jam (EBYJ) hits the Brighton Centre from 21 – 23 October 2005, ready with a 375 m2 purpose built street course, retail area and Snickers public street course.
Now in its 12th year the Etnies Backyard Jam is coming back bigger and better, with riders confirmed from Etnies, Federal and Hoffman bikes including Jamie Bestwick, Morgan Wade, Taj Mihelich, Mike Escamilla, Ruben Alcantara, Mike Aitken, Van Homan, Corey Martinez, Bas Keep, Jon Taylor and Sergio Layos to mention but a few. With such a line up and the relaxed atmosphere the EBYJ is famous for, riders will be pushing themselves in the face of a record prize pool of $40,000 overall.

Rooftop stunt bikeRedline's Mike Escamilla broke the Guinness Book World Record for long distance backflip on a BMX bike over the Big Air ramp at the X-Games. First, he beat the world record of a back flip off the mega ramp. The previous record was 54 feet. Mike jumped 62 feet, 2 inches, and then went on to set another record for Distance 360's at 50 feet 6 inches. This was an unexpected record, that had never been attempted before. In setting this mark, Rooftop and his DEVICE frame spun a one-handed tabletop during the fifty-foot long 360.

04 Sept RotterdamJeroen Pleijsier a.k.a. Prik is putting on a flatland jam in Rotterdam. The jam is called No Licence jam and will take place on 4 September next.

The event will take place on the "Schouwburgplein" which is easy for the foreigners asking for directions.

If you don't have a licence and travel by train, make sure you get to the Central Station (CS) at 12:30pm. Someone will be present to show you the way to the jam circle.

In case you need more info, got to the 010 FLAT website and ask Jeroen all the questions you have and that should include how to pronounce the word: Schouwburgplein.
